holy cow!

I've decided that I HATE noise, so I sort of decided to check how quiet my system would be with NO fans (except psu). (another reason for this would be that I think I screwed up each of my fans by screwing with them, and now they are all extra noisy as a result).

I slowly tested taking out fans, and was doing fine with just an intake at the back blowing towards the cpu heatsink (pal 8045 is my daddy).

I turned off the intake...

Forgot to turn off Folding@home...
Surfing around the forums looking for that post that detailed how hot t-birds can get (I seem to remember 90 equals toast, 80 equals uh-oh).
The I noticed my cpu was up to 84c... and climbing quite rapidly.

"oh @#%@!!!!" I don't think I've ever jumped that fast across the room, grabbed my fan, plugged it in, turned it on high, ripped my case cover off, and shoved the two together.

I then had the good sense to turn off Folding.

My comp is back at 38c. Damn. If I don't fry this thing soon, it is going to be a miracle! I thought the mb was supposed to warn me when it got hot. Heck, I probably burnt out those circuits :-)

I want some new, QUIET fans. :-(

might want to think about water cooling, i had 3 deltas in my computer at one time (2 80mm screamers 1 normal delta)

Hmmm, you decided to see how many fans you could get away with REMOVING?? Put in a celeron, and underclock it, next time you try that one...
