when trying to access it, an error screen pops up and says:
"E is not availible. file or catalog is damaged and cannot be read"

this happened after i set it up like this
Master 80gb WD IDE
Slave 200gb WD IDE (full of stuff)
Slave 200gb WD IDE (new, empty)

in windows only one of the 200gb drives showed up. I shut it down and removed the new one and started up, when loading windows an inconsistency check bluescreen popped up, then into windows.

if i check properties on the E drive it says "filesystem: RAW"
the hdd worked completely fine before i hooked up the additional 200gb

Can i get it working again without reformatting ?

it's a alotta trouble to do data recovery programs and transfer everything off it to reformat.

thanks!

I am assumming the 200 GB hard disk w/ data on it isn't completely full. Why don't you just copy the necessary data from the 200 GB (I.E. Operating System, Data Files, Applications) to the 80 GB, and set that one as Master. Then you could set the other two 200 GB hard disks to slave drives, and everything would be hunky-dory. ;)
