Heh, got my new PA120.3 and some Coolermaster Aluminum Fans as seen here (http://www.coolermaster-europe.com/index.php?LT=english&Language_s=2&url_place=product&p_serial=AAF-B12-E1&other_title=+AAF-B12-E1+Aluminum%20Fan%20120mm) . Specs on these fans are awesome, 56CFM at 23dba. 38mm thick and each fan weighs a whopping 420 grams :D Clear rubber fan mounts and clear rubber washers should help keep things nice and quiet. This is not going in my current rig, the is going in the 'Beast III' which is progressing slowly but surely.

Nik you are the WC'ing king. I love seeing what you will come up with next, always seem to out-do yourself. I hope the Beast III pwn's even harder :D.

you kinda wasted money on 3 fans. push/pull has been tested and hasnt really made a difference in temps.

I love that rad man. 1.4mm h2o @1200rpm?...what were the denkis again? Of the top of my head I think it was 0.98mm h2o @ (same rpm???) wasnt it?
I could be totally off here, but those CMs look pretty powerful.

he knows that better than anyone....but this thing is about being Beastly. get it? Youre not gonn atell him to use a shroud? where were you in WC 1o1. just teasing man.

But that set-up wouldn't look nearly as rad with only 3 fans on it, if you are going to spend the big money why not just go all the way?

theres an article about push pull in the front page and it shows push/pull helps quite a bit.

It seems that aluminum fans are all the rage right now, what makes them so much better than the plastic ones? Aesthetics? Or is there something else that I'm missing...

Metal or plastic blades?

nikhsub1
11-15-05, 07:09 PM
plastic blades. Alumim housed fans are generally very solid, hence the weight. I didnt get them cause they were aluminum, I got them because of the specs.

did you also consider the aluminium evercool ones that are on dangerdens site? 30 dba and 80CFM 120mmX120mmX25mm thou less head pressure for 12 bucks where those cooler master ones are 25 at ZZF. What were you aiming for spec wise? the weight/cfm/dba/head pressure/size?

I got these fans for $10.99 and a $10.99 rebate, so buy 6 get one free.

BTW- Those specs are almost too good to be true. 56 CFM and only 23.0 dB? Well have to check them out.. been looking for quiet 120mm x 38mm fans for what seems like forever. http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=273540&highlight=38mm

Been using Yate Loons but they are cheap and don't push much air when behind or in front of radiator...again thanks to turning us on to those.

wouldnt it be false advertising if they were incorrect specs or do you think its some kind of manufacturer boasting? and where did you get those cooler master fans from? it seems like the only store that has them is ZZF. Im getting a BI Pro3 in the mail on this thurs so i want quiet fans with good cfm and how i see it - the evercool specs look like the best. Ive also seen a thermaltake 120X25mm that was rated 21dba and 78cfm but it was a sleeve bearing which kinda deters me from getting it and it makes me wanna question the specs validity too

Nickhsub, I would love to know where you got those fans. Everywhere I look they are around $20. Also are the fans living up to their specs?

Yes it is false advertising, they dont care, they are in china :D I have some Mechatronics 25mm thick 120mm fans, 55CFM at 25dba, now those are real specs. 78cfm @ 21dba? Impossible, It goes agains the laws of physics.

Let me add that those 78cfm specs could be realistic, if measured from 20 feet away :D

OK, I just hooked all 6 fans up on the rad to a PSU I had laying around... all I could hear was the PSU :D Seriously, they are QUIET, as in from 2 ft away they cant be heard.

Well with 12 fans silence will be difficult, but yes, I'm going for a kinder gentler approach this time round.

Gotta be nice to the virgin parts, eh ;)

Evercools are rebadged titan aluminiums, for those wondering. And yeah, they're pretty crappy fans.
