Yesterday I installed a cable modem.....called Tech support had it activated and they said it was a good strong connection.......then I try to load up Internet Explorer....ILLEGAL OPERATION....they transfer me to a higher level of tech support....He then has me do a bunch of things ....no change so I went to bed....This morning I try to uninstall IE to see if it helps...no change :( .....a few mins later I try uninstalling ver. 5.5 (the one that's giving me all this crap) and reinstalling ver 5.0...so I restart when it asks me to...:eek: when it loads the desktop ALL of the icons are gone (the short cuts are still there but the icons are not)...I try to load my computer and it says it has nothing to load it with....now when I try to open any folder it says to go to folder options and do something in the view tab...I try that nothing works (even after restarting 5 times) now all I can do is look at my pretty desktop picture and move the mouse pointer because none of the short cuts work......now I am at school typing this in my web design class because my home comp doesn't work any more...I guess all I can do is call Microsoft tech support, reinstall windows, or maybe some of you guys have any idea of what's going on

I would boot into safemode and reinstall ie5.5 and see if it solves the problem.

sounds like you need to reinstall windows maybe a newer version if you are running an older one. anyways your comp probably could do with a fresh install of windows.

YESSSSSSS!!!!:) :) :) :) I reinstalled windows and now every thing works Perfectly!!! thanks for the tipps every one.:)
