Hey guys. I am confused. Where are we number 1. I thought I was checking the right place for stats and we were 5th.
Are we number 1 with the new 2.0 client and not 1.34?
I cant use 2.0 because I am running Win2k and I have heard fo several issues with 2.0 and the OS. Which I blame on 2.0
I hate to plug BUT.. the win2k OS leaves me bored here at work... I have noone complaining about system crashes and the like.
ANYWAY
So I still use 1.34 does that make a difference ? Does the team still rack up stats with 1.34? Where can I check the proper stats? I checked last night and the overclockers team was 5th and I had 1592 wu's completed. Direction please......
Oh and I deciced to stay here at oc and not jump ship like I was asked.... matter of fact I added 5 more machines to the folding project.. more to come.
Thanks
I've got 2.0 running on W2k on three machines without any problems.
1.34 and 2.0 stats are separate. We are #1 with the 2.0 client, I guess #5 with the 1.34 client.
Given that you have so much free time at work now ;) try 2.0 on a machine and see how it goes.

Ok, how do i enter my user name and team number?
I know 1.34 it was mindbender (www.overclockers.com)
how do i enter it with 2.1?
and with 1.34 i used EM so that i could hide the console window and prevent users from asking what that window was.
is there an EM for 2.1? will the old EM work with 2.1?
Arent I the inquisitve one today? Sorry got to get folding done right. And i would like to get 2 running asap.....
In 2.0 we are team 32, your username should remain the same. As for hiding the client, There has been some discussion of that but I haven't followed it. I'm sure someone will be around shortly to answer that, or you might have a look through threads in the folding section over the last couple weeks.

For username just put mindbender no www.overclockers.com needed. Use team 32 for team.
You can run the client as a service on win98/ME machines to hide the client from users. Pickleloaf explains how to here:
http://forums.overclockers.ws/vb/showthread.php?s=&postid=301244 the post is way down in the thread. like second to last at the time of this posting.
There is a console version and a version that stays in the systray. I use both but I believe the systray one is the only one you can get to run as a service.
I too have 3 win2k machines running with both the console version and the systray version.
Goodluck and glad you stayed with us :).
Glad to see you're still around mindbender :)
You should be able to set it up as a service in win2k as well, but it's not as easy because there are actually two executables that need to be started to make it run. One is the fah client and the other is the core64.exe. The core should be started by the client, but I had some trouble with that in 2k. I used firedaemon for 2k to set up the service. Got it to work and then it didn't work and then it did work. Either way it didn't cause any problems with the OS. There was another write up in another forum and they set the service up a little different. I'll see if I can find a link to it later.
The win98/ME registry setting seems to work fine though.

apparently i didnt pay enough money buying 45 EULA's
and i have to purchase the 2k resource kit to be able to get the srvinstw.exe to start programs as services....
the resource kit is FREE.. but you cant dl it ne where.. the 70 bucks you have to pay is for printing the manual. and i wont do that to spite them. i already bought their admin and companions... ********.
thanks Micro$oft
so if i cant run folding 2.0 without hiding it from my users.. i cant run it at all.
ne ideas?
thanks
I don't have the srvinstw.exe on my win2k laptop either, but have used firedaemon before to set up a service. Available at
http://www.firedaemon.com/
There was a very good write up on setting the fah2 client as a service with firedaemon at DSL Reports here
http://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark,1645416;root=folding;mode=flat
Hope that helps. Best I could do. ;)
