I currently have a Dell Inspiron 9300 with an Intel Pro/Wireless 2915ABG with blue tooth. I use a linksys WRT54GC wireless router (the new compact one) for my dorm room. The problem is, I am doing whatever and then randomly I get a "limited or no connectivity" error and my internet dies for about 3min give or take. Using the intel software to control my wireless card, when it gets the error it won't correct itself until about 10min passes, using the windows software it takes under 3 usually so I have (obviously) resorted to using the windows software.

Yes my drivers / software are all updated
Yes my routers firmware is updated
At home on my linksys WRT54GX (I think it is, the one with SRX) it does not randomly cut out like this one does.
My roomate's laptop does not randomly discounnect like mine does and he uses the windows software as well (he has a sony vaio though)

Any ideas?

this has been discussed many times at the notebook forums and it seems to be a rampant problem with allmost all I9300's with this particular combination of intel 2915 bundled with bluetooth (a search on www.notebookforums.com will return some good reads on the subject)... I don't remember what exactly the solution was but I would think it would be best to call dell tech support and complain... the issue is probbably so well documented that they will prolly help you right off the bat...

ps... why did you get the abg card instead of the bg card? I've never seen an 802.11a network in my entire life...

as far as I knew, it was the only one with bluetooth built in at the time and I have a couple bluetooth devices so it made my life a little easier, but now harder with these disconnects lol

after checking out the site, as far as I can tell, the primary fix was eithor getting a new card or updating the drivers which I have updated and do not want to fork out money on something that should work in the first place...any other ideas or maybe something I missed?

if your laptop is under warrantee just call dell and complain... if it's within 21 days ask for the downgrade to the intel 2200 seriously the 2200 is better anyways... (unless you have a 802.11a network... :O)

the best time to call dell is at 2 oclock in the morning because hardly anybody in the usa calls at that time and also it seems like their techsupport center is in india anyways so it would be best cause it would be the middle of the day for india... and more people would probbably be working...
