Hello there,

recently bought Digifusion FVRT200 Digital Video Recorder :

http://www.fusiondigitec.com/press/PR/FVRT200.htm

The HDD is already full and I'd like to move some files onto my PC. I took the HDD out of the box and attached to my PC but the HDD was recognised only in computer manager (came up as unformatted). When i clicked on the icon my computer the HDD was not there. I recon, the system on HDD is different to XP.
Any idea how to extract those recorded files from the freeview box HDD??
Regards
Rado

P.S. I apologize if this is not the right section to put my thread, but I thought this is the most appropriate.

thanks

If the HDD is in a file system that Windows can not recognize then your options are limited. I presume this was done to deter attempts to transfer the recorded video from the PVR to PC for Copyright Protection purposes with regards to Redistribution practices. What you request maybe outside of what our Forum Rules Guidelines specify. I'll see what a Mod has to say before we try to figure this out.

Ok, I kinda got the go ahead on this.

Have you tried it on a Linux machine? If the Linux machine can view the file system then you can transfer the video thru the netwrk since file systems are transparent thru them. The long way around it would be to capture the video stream to your PC but talk about doing it the hard way & would probably be the very last thing to try if your wanting to preserve the quality.

basically, I just wanna know, if it is possible....to get the files out of the HDD and If I can replace my 80GB HDD to something bigger but before that I need to copy files from the old hdd onto a new one so the freeview box can work with the new HDD.
Is there any software that, PC with XP windows installed as system, could read linux files?
