My relatively new 400W Antec power supply has a thermo controlled fan and I noticed the other day that the fan was not turning on properly when HOT. It just stayed motionless... So until I get a fan that likes to start at quite low voltages to replace the adda that's in there I simply took the thermo control out of the loop.

From the PCB there is a simple 2 pin fan connector going to another small PCB that is the thermo control device. All I did was unplug the fan from the Thermo device and plug it into the main PCB.

The fan DEFINATELY starts now! It must've never gotten a full 12 volts because now this thing is loud! I must say that the airflow might be a good trade off for all of you air coolers out there, though.

Hope it helps!

Also, if anyone knows of a fan that likes to start at low voltages and is reasonably powerful (as it will obviously never see 12V) please let me know.
