Did anyone else experience this? The buddies were MovieFone and ShoppingBuddy. I utterly hate how they're trying to control us...

Completely in agreement with you. I don't think they should just randomly tamper with someone's buddy list.

You could complain if you paid for AIM, but you didn't. It's hardly a big hassle to delete them if you don't want them. I plan to use the MovieFone one myself.

I removed them, but I still get a message that they've been added every time I log in...even though they haven't been re-added.
I got it too...I'm guessing everyone did. It was quite odd and scared me when I first got on and it told me it was adding them.

this is driving me nuts as well. guess what happens when you click "warn" as you rightfully should when garbage like this happens?
you cant warn the AIM system.
i wanted to flush my computer down the toilet. far be it from me to bite the hand that feeds me, but its like... its not so much that bad things happen when you speak out, like in other contries, but even worse you simply dont have that option, period. no voice.
i blocked them, but its time to switch back to gaim anyway, since i dont really use the webcam any more...
the new gaim coming soon should support the webcam anyhow...
EDIT: now that i think about it, THEY were adding crap to MY buddie list. its time to regulate here. im dumping it right now. ill just have to wait for GAIM to be improved. too bad for THEM, but thats what happens when they push marketing on me like that. they went too far.

Note -- I get this even on gaim.

Can you warn anybody? I thought they took that feature out? I haven't been able to warn anybody for several versions now.

I think they took it out, too. Or there'd be MANY people who wouldn't be able to IM right now because of me...

I've been able to warn people still; if they ever take that feature I'm not going to use AIM anymore.

I didn't think it was that big of a deal. Removed them and forgot about it. Like someone else said, you aren't paying for this program/service, so really you shouldn't complain about it. If right clicking and hitting "delete" is really that big a of a deal nobody is forcing you to use AIM.

That's strange, do you just do it the normal way with the warn button? Or is there some trick to it? I haven't been able to warn for years it seems.

I'm not getting any auto-message saying they're mad that I deleted them. I went about it slightly differently though; block, wait and then remove.

Ya me too... i hate ads that move or flash (time to get off my lazy butt and delete those too :p)
I use Gaim, and I had the buddies added as well, however, I got a constant error that wouldn't go away. Down in the bottom right corner (On Windows), I kept getting a pop-up saying that blist.xml was corrupt. This is what I did...I went to Application Data for Gaim, and then I deleted blist.xml, and renamed the "SAVE" file of blist.xml, to "blist.xml", and since then I haven't had the problem. I thought I would post this, in case anyone else has had this problem...

Using Gaim, got them, got rid of them, minor annoyance, enough said. What possessed them to do this I haven't the slightest. Problem is though that most people use AIM, so its not so easy as to say just stop using it or else most of us wouldn't be able to IM most of our friends.
Glad I didn't get any of the errors others did. If only some IM system could appear to compete with AIM, but most people are so entrenched with using AIM they won't change over. Yahoo for example is trying to get into the IM business, but they'll never succeed to the extent that AIM has, and even if they do it'll take years, perhaps a decade. So AIM, for the moment can do almost anything it wants within reason. Obnoxious, but necessary evil .

I use trillian though I frequently use the Aim servers so I got them to, at first I though it was spyware. Went crazy with all my protection apps with no luck, so I just removed it and they have not yet come back.

I rarely have to do it, to be honest. *clicky*

Have you guys used the Santa bot and the Easter bunny bot? :D
Yeah, I got these on Trillian and deleted them ASAP. If I wanted them there I'd put them there. If all my firends didn't use AIM I wouldn't use it.
