I read i cpu database that the average overclock speed for the duron 750 is 962. wel i cant even hit 900. I tried upping the voltage to the max but it wont boot. any suggestions. Man i was really hoping i could get it to hit 1ghz, but i am really begining to doubt that now. well thanks in advance guys.

Are you overclocking via FSB or multiplier?

Some more detail would help us.... as in specific settings, equipment, temps, etc

i had the same prob with my kt7e + duron 750
so i sold the thing and exchanged it for a duron 600
i had the same probz with the 600 until i tried some things
i threw my memory out and putted a corsair 128meg pc133 in it
and now i can manage to make the duron run rock stable at 800 and its still locked
full load = 43 so thats quite nice i think
i cant get any higher ... get bsod with tcpip.sys (anybody know how to fix this?)

darnit I am only average! My duron is a monster and will post at 1001 but no windows :(

the 750 just don't do that well some make it to 1000 or 1100 even but most are 900-950 some as low as yours at 850.

snyper, try a diff psu....a more powerful one...that was my problem when i was overclocking
could go past 1.42 and be stable

either that or try upping the fsb instead of the multiplier because upping the multi. ups the speed ALOT

Use pencil on L7.
This will set default Vcore at 1.85 V
My D750 didn't boot over 900 until I did it.

Reason:

In my MB voltage is set via BIOS.
To run D750 at about 1000 you need 1.8-1.85V or more
Cpu must start with voltage set via L7 until BIOS can set new voltage. Default is 1.6V - it may be insufficient to start over 900 MHz.

i dont really feel like taking the heatsink off again, so do you think i could set the voltage with the dip switches?i hope so, i really dont want to have to take off the heatsink again. thanks.

My 750 just makes the 1gig markv at 1016.I'm happier with that OC more than my xp1800.

Nice explanation. I'm gonna give this a shot.

Wish me luck. :)

YES!!!!

I can now boot at 1000. I've never been able to reliably post at 950 before.

well, me AKCA Duron 800 boots at 1066 but runs windows stable at 1040. this is air cooling to, not water. i plan on getting a phase change system built and voltage modding my KT7E and see what this little thing can really do. 1250? 1300? maybe.

my duron 600 is running 1028 happily....air cooled...cak38...

no vmod or anything

should i overclock with jumpers or bios? i finaly got it to 892 so i called it a night, then the next morning when i tried to start my computer it just gave me a black screen, so i had to reset the cmos and set it back to 750. this is really begining to suck.

I had success with the L7 trick also. Gave me an extra 66 Mhz

yeah but no one has really answered whether it is better to overclock with jumpers or bios.

what vcore are you running the duron at? I would up it to 1.9volts or higher that got my duron up to 1001mhz!

snyper1982
10-30-01, 11:05 PM
i have tried, but it wont even post at 900. the highest i have had it was 892. then the next morning when i started it it wouldnt post. it doesnt matter what voltage i am at, as soon as i try at 900 it wont post so i have to reset the cmos. it is really begining to suck.
