Hi all, I want to network a 3rd computer to my already networked system. Right now I just have 2 pc's hardwired with a crossover cable and 3 Nics. I'm going to need a wireless connection as running through the floor is going to be a problem. Im not sure what I need to purchase. My existing network is used mainly for gaming and my connection is sweet. Would be nice if my 3rd PC could have that option but not a neccessity.

Questions: Can I just buy a router and 1 wireless adapter? Will this allow me to run the 3rd PC wireless and hardwire the other 2? Or could i just use 2 wireless adapters off of my already hardwired network? Or do I need a wireless router and 3 wireless adapters? Obviously this is the most expensive option and looking to avoid that, but if performance is the issue price doesnt matter. Thanks in advance.

Get a wireless router and 1 wireless NIC. All wireless routers have at least 4 LAN ports in them to hard wire computers. You will need regular CAT5 cables though and not the crossover. This is the exact same set up I have. 2 wired desktops and a wireless laptop.

Also the router will ad some security with NAT, SPI, and MAC Filtering (if you set it up).

For gaming you want a wired network, it's faster and more reliable thank wireless.
