I thought I'd take a look at the demos included with my 6800GT just for kicks. So I put the disc in, autostart thingy comes up, and I click on the demo. It lists 4 demos, 2 that were with the 5900 (vulcan and dusk) and 2 new ones (nalu and clear sailing).

When I click on ANY of them, it complains and says that Windows XP is required. I have windows 2K.

This makes no sense to me as I know I have run the dusk demo on this pc before when I got my 5900.

So instead of using the menu, I browse the cd and go directly to the demo installers. They install perfectly, all of them. Then I start them. They run perfectly as well, no problems at all whatsoever.

So why do the morons that make the disc put in a check for windows xp when it is absolutely not necessary? I wonder if Bill is paying them to do **** like that to encourage people to buy upgrades needlessly.

I would say thats exactly why they do things like that, upgrages. They are betting on the average Joe doing so.

edit: It would be an interesting experiment to actually call their customer service and ask for their reccomendation.
