I have been told that my temps are good:
CPU: 41C idle / ~47C load (Bryce 5)
Case: 25C @ 20C room temp.
Now, if i over clock, what temps should i go up to? I mean, if these temps are fine now, @ 1.4g how much higher could i go (without case modding) if i over clock? 47C idle? i am really not sure...
also, is it better to have more exhaust than intake or vice-versa? Thanx!

those temps are too high for you to overclocking. anything above 50c is too high. my temps are in the mid 30s about.
Temps are too high for overclocking much, but you can probably get a bit out of it-- I have a compulsive/obsessive disorder which makes me try and overclock anything, so even with those temps I'd try to get something out of it!
I wouldn't go far though: my systems start having trouble when I get load temps to 50c. You could most likely get a couple of steps up in fsb OR multiplier with no trouble though: Try one step at a shot and check load temps for a while: see what you can get without going over 48c.
And maybe You too will become afflicted with the Overclocking Disorder!:D

well, in all honesty, how much performance gain will i notice by oc'ing "a little bit"...so i'm guessing my temps are fine, but if serious overclocking is done, the temps need to decrease...got it. i can hardly complain, i went from a p2-400 to an athlon 1.4g...and i own stock in intel..WOOPS hehe

once you get a few more mhz, youll see its not about the "performance gain", youll be back asking about better cooling and how you can hit 1.7...youll see, just wait....

The proformance gain is there, however slight. you WILL notice a proformance drop however if you go back to a slower system
Also, try upping your FSB and lowering your multiplier. this will give you a sizeable proformance increase as well.
