OK this is following on from an earlier problem but is differnt. I got to the stage where i can re-install Outlook Express but it creates and installs to the file "Outloo~1" then when it is updating system files it gets continuous errors with the .dll files because it says it cannot locate them in the "Outlook Express" folder. Well of course u cant u stupid computer! U just installed them to Outloo~1! Also it has a problem with a folder "C:\Program" but iv never had a folder called that on my computer. Unless it was hidden. Can anyone give me some answers please!?

What OS are you using? that file/directory is being truncated to DOS 8.3 format.

OK i done that bit but i was getting this error message about writing to a file called C:\Program but it didn't exist so i created it and the error message has gone away but now everytime i start windows the file opens and i have to close it before i can carry on. It doesn't appear in the taskbar either.
what do u mean that file opens, also did u check for the files that are listed(the link) as needing to be in that created folder and if not copy them into it?

Did i say file? Ooooops. I meant folder. It opens up as if i was going from my computer>c:\>program. So i just get this empty folder open on my screen whenever i start up called "Program"
ok your error about writing to that folder u created was at start up? so u created that folder and now the folder opens up instead of the error? at least u know what program is causing the error,
my guess is that we are back to the prob of again a bad instal, but couple questions, does oe work otherwise, can u get this folder to open up from within windows/oe after it has been close, if so how when, is there anything in your startup folder that u can click on to open this folder also, you can just try reinstall oe now without all the other stuff -might work, but either way we can keep pluging at it

I got the error message during the installation of OE. So i created the file and re-ran the installation and no error message... just the folder opening on startup. I cant see anything in the startup folder. OE seems to work fine. The "C:\Program" folder is completely empty too and hasn't been modified since i created it. I might just delete is and see how OE runs.
