I really have computer expirence with my computer. I was going to visit my mother for thanksgiving so I brought along my hardrive so I could use all my information on there computer, They have a slightly better computer than I do. I just thought I could slap in my hard drive as the slave and get my information from there. Well It turns out the hardrive that is actually in there is not using a IDE Cable, its some other cable that I know the name of but forgot. The secodary IDE is being used by the CD drives and no IDE is being used in the primary. So, I had my own IDE cable just in case I need one and well I inserted into the primary one put the HD in primary and slave position and I got the BSOD. I tried slaving it on the secondary IDE channel which gave the same result.
Help:)

Did you set the jumper on your harddrive to the right setting? You also might want to make sure that it will still boot first from the SATA drive( in the bios).

another option if you can not figure it out is a tempory removal of the ROM for your HDD.

Check his system's BIOS, that might be a problem.
