If i was to install a new motherboard...just that and keep same drive with Windows XP on it...would i still have to reinstall Windows?

It would be a good idea. You can try a repair install but a clean install works best.

You may just have to reactivate XP since it will think it is not activated (happens when you replace the CPU or other major parts).
But I would just reinstall, then you get all new drivers and such.

I would say yeah, I tried using same mobo before and it does not work well. The old drivers will try and load, and the new ones. Infact Windows wouldn't even load for me, found an error.
