I have an ABIT BE6-II motherboard running the latest BIOS that has a Highpoint HPT 366 Ultra ATA/66 Chipset built in.

I have run the Microsoft Windows XP advisor and it tells me I have a blocking issue with the Highpoint controller. It states:
Unsupported Hardware Configuration
Your computer has hardware devices that prohibit you from upgrading to Windows XP.
Highpoint HPT366 Ultra DMA Controller

I have searched the Highpoint site and it tells me to go to my motherboard manufacturers site. I went to ABIT and can't find any new drivers or BIOS that state they support XP. I sent EMAIL to ABIT and as in the past when I tried to contact them, they did not respond.
Can anyone help?

Thanks...

I dunno about winXP but but when installing win2k you need to specify the highpoint controller. During initial setup you have to press F6 when setup asks for any 3rd party SCSI or other mass-storage controller and then you can load the highpoint drivers via floppy (a floppy that came with your BE6-II package). I think it's likely that this is the same during winXP setup...

I agree, that may be the problom...

If you are upgrading it should take the drivers.

Have you tried using the NT 4.0 Drivers, I hear these
usually work since XP IS NT Based.
(If NT Drivers are available)

After several EMAILS to ABIT, they finally sent me Beta "XP" drivers and I was able to use them. It took a call to Microsoft, though, and several hours on the phone to get the XP setup program to get me to the screen where I could select F6 to install the Beta drivers. The Setup program kept seeing the controller and kicking it out early and would not let me continue. We had to finally start from a bootup disk, and go into the I386 folder on the XP CD and run WINNT to allow me to use the XP software. What a mess, but it finally let me install the XP Beta drivers. I think the Microsoft tech was surprised by the whole thing.

Thanks!

Yeah; I know what you mean.

A few beers helped the cause!
