This (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102619) is what I'm buying tomorrow. It will replace my 8500LE. What ya think?

It is a pretty decent card.

Made to battle the 6600gt, and it does it really well. Has 256MB memory , 256bit bus, and 6 vertex shaders which the 6600gt doesn't have.

I bought mine like 2 months ago, didn't come with the same HS, but I installed an Ati Silencer 5.

Mine OCs to 540/540, can go higher, but it locks up on certain games.

My best scores are 5090 on 3dmark 05, which are very good for an 8pp card.

If you get the R423 core, then it is possible to Hmod to 12pp, you need to close a circuit on the core.

Overall a good card for the price

Probably too late, but this would have been better

It's a Connect3D X800 GTO, which already has 12 pipes, and a chance of utilizing all 16 pipes. I have one, pretty nice card.

His card is AGP though, do they make the GTO in AGP?

Yes they do. It seems Newegg don't carry that model.

Is this or the other mentioned AGP card better than the 6800GT / 6800GS?

Not really, these cards are 8-12 pipes and need heavy overclocks to really shine. If you can get a 6800 for a bit more go for that

Thanks for your opinions.

As for the X800GTO, it would be a no go depending on the price. Importing taxes are sky high here in Brazil.

X800GT: US$174 + 60% importing tax + 18% of something else + US$30 shipping + profit the reseller makes = US$340~350+ !!!!!!!!

US$1 = R$2,20~2,40

Do the math

Almost bought that card, decided to upgrade to a PCIe board with the aformentioned Connect3D X800GTO (unlocked fine and clocks up to 535 with stock cooling). That is about the best your going to do right now, however the GPU is laser locked so no extra pipes. However based on the reviews I read, that card is a great upgrade for the AGP lovers. :bday:

It might be laser locked, but not all on the die itself, so you might be able to do a small hardmod.

True, from what i read it's similar to unlocking a palamino, so all you would need is some conductive paint (rear defogger repair kit), some tape and maybe some super glue AND a steady hand.
