Mainly for the new DC opty's which would be better also for the single core opty's. I'am thinking TCCD or the new bh-5 UTT. If anyone wants to post there best deal's that they think is the best bang for the buck that would be great.

I think I'am going to stick with 2x512 seeing is I'am running a tight budget. Also would it be worth it to not use Dual channel and buy a nice 1gb stick and then maybe buy another later of just get 2 nice stick of 512 and then maybe 2 later.

Not really sure what's the best memory out right now as for price for performance just wanted a few suggestion's on what to buy.

i would go with 2x1gb. if u can buy one gb now and another later that would work as long as you don't care about the loss in performance until you get the second gig. 2 gigs is the way to go now unless all you care about is benching.

Well I'am not into gaming as much as I'am benching so your saying get the 2x512mb if I'am into benching instead of the 2 x 1gb.

Yeah I'd stick with 2x512 if you are a bencher. That way you'll be able to get higher frequencies at tighter timings. I really don't see any benches that would see a boost of doubling the ram to 2gb over having the tight timings/high frequency.

Thank's for the input but no one has told me any good brand's or deal's they know of.

You'd really cut away half your RAM for a marginal inrease in synthetic benchmarks?

Sure I guess the most ram I have every ran in a system is 512 anyways so 1gb is going to be twice as much as I'am used to anyway.

Yeah, but there aren't that many applications/tasks that require or benefit from 2Gb of memory anyway, so your increases would be marginal with the 2Gb over the 1Gb.
Even in BF2, the performance benefit of 2Gb of memory over 1Gb is pretty marginal:

We can see some performance difference, although it is really small: about 1%. However, it is just a performance difference we managed to detect during a prerecorded demo playback. In a real game you will feel the difference much better, of course, as the game will be addressing the disk subsystem. I wouldn’t state that you cannot enjoy Battlefield 2 to the full extent with only 1GB of memory installed, however, having 2GB of memory will definitely make your gaming experience much more pleasing

Seems to me that they only tested a prerecorded demo...and also 2gb is much better for multitasking, not just playing BF2.

Well I dont play BF2 but I do muiltitask @ some time's but the thing is I'am on a budget and I think the 2x512 is going to be the better all around choice for me.
