After reformating and installing windows a few times the past week, my hard drive has failed. I took an old 40gb that was lying around and tried to install on that. However, the "reformating" bar stays at 0%. :bang head :bang head  I need help, Im stuck and dont know what to do.

Your sig doesn't show the type of HDD you are using. Is your windows disk damaged? If it is not, try a low level format on both drives, most HDD manufactures have the tools available from their sites for free. I bet it is your windows disk though.

hmmm....www.bootdisk.com
make a windows98 book disk and run fdisk on your HDD...try to delete the partition and create a primary dos partition...you can try the diagnostics too....

I dont think its the disc for its pretty much new. Is there a way I can get a new disc?
I will try to do a low level format.
Im not sure what your talking about for the boot disk.

Typical boot disks will allow you to run a old tried & true program called "fdisk" or "chkdsk", which will allow you to check the surface of your hard drive for errors. Since your WinXP install disc can't format your hard drive, your hard drive may be damaged.

If you could post the brand and model of your hard drive (I'm assuming the system in your signature is the one that you're using the hard drive for), that'll help tons for us to point you in the right direction for the tools you need to get your install on its way.
