I am thinking of getting a new CPU, but I'm not sure which one.

1Ghz Duron
1Ghz Athlon

I have seen reviews and it seems that the Duron with the new core is better than the Athlon, has anyone got a 1Ghz Duron??

The Duron is cheaper then the Athlon, but the Athlon is the "fastest".

But I have seen reviews of the Duron 1GHz beaten the Athlon,
has anyone got a 1Ghz Duron with the Morgan Core

i'm almost 100% sure that a 1ghz morgan will not be as quick as a 1ghz thunderbird, if that's what you mean by athlon. the athlon thunderbird has a lot more cache than the morgan, and that makes much more of a difference than a few sse II optimizations.

i have to agree with proze ... the t bird has much more cache => faster
btw im not quite sure if the duron is cheaper then the athlon i think its vice versa

A check of the price lists at www.pcprogress.com will help you answer your own question on price between the two CPUs. The Duron has 192k cache the Athlon has 256k full speed cache. I didn't research the breakdown of the Durons cache. I had read that 64K was L2. There is more involved with the Duron/ Athlon comparison than the Pentium/Celeron. Athlon and Duron are two totally different concepts where celeron is a butchered pentium. I read one members thread in this forum on folding time using the 1.0Duron Morgan and they were awesome. I think you will find the price diff very slight between the two so performance is what you're looking for.
