View Full Version : dead z-560...tough choice now
The rear channel on my logitech z-560s is dead, I loved the way the z-560s sound, but I want surround sound now, and this isn't going to work. I am thinking of buying the z-5500s but I am worried because I HATE the z-680s my friend has, so I am wondering if the z-5500s sound more like the 560s or if they sound like 680s?

your speaker set might be able to be repaired, maybe a break in the cable

Don't mess up a perfect excuse to buy new spaekers!:)
The z5500's sound great by all reports.
For an all-in-one, boxed and shipped nice and neatly solution, I really can't fault the Z-5500s. They even now come with replaceable cables (the originals were hard-wired). The sub plays loud enough and is decently controlled. Mids and highs are, again, at least as good as most any other multimedia speaker set you're likely to find.
Bonus points for having both optical and coaxial digital inputs, as well as the standard 3x minijack configuration. Control pod is kind of attractive, too.

You like the z-560s yet hate the z-680s? I'm really confused. The z-680s are superior in every way, they were the flagship set until the z-5500s replaced them. The 560s are literally junk in comparison. It's not even a question of personal preference. The sound is better both technical specs wise, and in actual listening.
