Ok all, I've finally gotten the money for a watercooling kit

My budget is 300 bucks (I can maybe squeeze a little bit more if I absolutely need to, but the less I have to spend for a quality kit the better)

Obviously if that's totally unreasonable I'll upgrade. :)

I've read all the stickies and I've done my research, but I still would like some input as for the best setup for me.

Noise isn't a factor, neither are brands, I don't care as long as it cools well and won't fall apart in 2 days.

I'm looking for maximum cooling power for the money.

I would like to cool CPU / VGA / NB(unless this is overkill for my setup), and I do OC, got my current CPU running right at 4ghz as my sig implies, I really wanna push this chip and see what she'll do.

Help me build a kit gurus! :santa:

How hot is the NB right now? you probably don't need to introduce it into the loop unless it's really hot. As for parts, you could get maybe a BIXIII with 6 panaflos/deltra tri blades in push-pull with a D5 pump.

I would recommend leaving the nb out of the loop. At first, I really wanted to include mine (I even bought the block) but then I opted out for several reasons . . .

1. An extra block in the loop can really affect the overall performance of your water-cooling. In other words, your CPU and GPU won't be as cool as they could be and that could affect how much you can overclock them.

2. The temp of the nb doesn't affect your overclock. So you wouldn't gain anything in the way of performance by cooling it.

3. In your case, 32C isn't bad at all for a nb. (I've read about people with nb temps as high as 40-50C.) You can also save the money and use it to get better items for the other parts of your water-cooling setup. For example, a rough estimate would be: BIX III ($80) + D5 pump ($80) + a good CPU block ($60) + a good GPU block($40) + tubing ($5) + fans ($30) + additive ($5) = $300. . .

(Here's an extra reference that personally convinced me not to water-cool the nb. See "myth #3.")

Ok so I went on voyeur mods and just priced out one of their custom byo kits.

here's what I came up with, opinions?

storm extreme universal CPU block - 74
mcw50 black VGA - 45
black ice xtreme 2 - 99
primoflex clear 15 ft - 5
dd D5 12v pump - 72
10 clear hose clamps - 3.50
typhoon single 5 1/4 bay reservoir - 24
aluminum fill port - 10
thermaltake coolant 500 ml - 8

total 340.50

Id suggest this VGA block instead (DD Maze 4): http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=2738

BIX2 cheaper:

As you can see im finding cheaper prices. I also picked a diffrent VGA block for I think it is better than the one you had chosen. You found a nicely price D5. I also would suggest you get a t-line isntead of a res. Less likely to break, easier to maintain, dont need to take out of case, no hastle to fill.

What do you plan on using interm of fans? My suggestion:
AFB1212VHE
Great fan
Pretty much silent
Great airflow

or

FFB1212SHE from Sidewinder computers
Tri-Blade
Great undervolter
Very nice amount of airflow.

If you want to go over kill, purchase 2 GFB1212GHE's from Sidewinder. :)

Hope this helps.

great guys

I'm placing orders tonight once I get everything finalized

keep it comin, now since im not putting the northbridge block into the loop, so I go down to 3/8th tubing over 1/2?

I originally planned to go 1/2..?

1/2 tubing is much better

Ok so, here's what I'm ordering

Final critique?

water block
VGA waterblock
radiator
resi - yes I want one :D
extra #1 rad is going to be mounted externally, figured this might be handy
clamps
tubing - how much should I order?
fluid
pump

Does that all match? anything I missed - swap critique, all is appreciated.

I also tried ordering 2 of those fans you recommended, but it says they require a minimum order of 25 bucks, any other places that have them? or other good fan recommendations?

pump= great
fluid= that stuff is a waste. go for some iodine, antifreeze, and distilled water. Or use mct-5.
tubing= get it from mcmaster.com it is a lot cheaper.
clamps= go for the metal clamps. they are easily resized with a screw driver. Again, check www.mcmaster.com or your local hardware store.
extra 1= that is fine.
res= you may wanna look at a fillport and fillport res from danger den. you use it with a t-line so it is like having a tline and a res and will not restrict water flow.
radiator=great
gpu block= great
cpu block= great.

i would order my stuff from dangerden.com. I like to give them the business plus i think they have the mct-5.

radiator

your choice though. i have never delt with the site you listed. Maybe if you decide on the fillport and fillport res, you could just order than from dd and get the rest from the other place. your choice. i am not you. it is just my preference.
