All of a sudden, my desktop PC started freaking out tonight. The keyboard no longer works, but instead will start inserting random letters at will. The only button that works consistently is the 'windows' button. Also, the mouse clicks are crazy. The mouse clicks all on its own. I can't type in web addresses for a scan, or anything. I can barely get around with the mouse. I am wondering how I even got this as I barely even use this PC and it was fine a few hours earlier and I did nothing between then and now. Any idea?

Delete the drivers for the mouse/keyboard and restart (might need safemode to do this, don't remember).
See if the generic drivers work. Dunno what else to say, virus scan?
What Microsoft operating system is being used?

Well this is great. Just tried to turn it on this morning and now it won't even boot. It says there is a keyboard error or no keyboard found. I guess I am on my way out to buy another keyboard
It almost sounds like a motherboard problem. Was the keyboard/mouse USB or PS/2?

Mainboard and/or PS/2 controller and/or PS/2 device malfunction. Keyboard Error or No Keyboard Present means that the keyboard [controller] failed self-test or failed to respond within the timeout interval.

Yeah, I bet the PS/2 controller on your motherboard went ka-put.

Although it would not hurt to try another mouse and keyboard.

Ended up being a bad keyboard  Went out and got a nice Logitech wireless combo and everything is kosher once again.

Mouse still causing problems? Dunno if it was the keyboard or if it just works now because that keyboard uses USB  Try another PS/2 keyboard and see what happens :)

No, it is still plugged into the PS/2 port (for now). I think the whole ordeal with the mouse is the keyboard was acting as if I were pressing the return/tab/space bar and crap all at the same time so it was moving the cursor all over the screen and clicking on stuff.
