Doesn't that mean that the shipment is supposed to be shipped and to your door in 3 days? I ordered my Headphones, mouse and keyboard on the 23rd and it's the 26th. My stuff hasn't come in and I'm confused. Doesn't 3 Day Select mean it's supposed to be here by today. Someone please clue me in.
[Edit] It says it should be here by the 30th. If you ask me they shouldn't label it "3 Day Select" if it's going to take 7 days to get here.

So which days are they counting?
Nexus Realized
11-26-05, 02:22 PM
25th, 28th, 29th
Or if they shipped it out the same day you ordered it which I doubt, 23rd, 25th, 28th

With the volume of shipments, hell I wouldn't even count the 25th... I'd be happy with Tuesday or Wednesday of this week :D

Your forgetting one thing. 1-2 Day Processing. Normally w/ newegg their very fast processing...but ya never know.

I was a little put off with it, but it really isn't that big a deal anyway. It's only the keyboard, mouse and LAN headset and the case is supposed to come and then the case the next day (wednesday, but that's a seperate order). Then I'll have to wait to get the mobo, vid card, sound card, RAM, HDD, PSU, and Optical drive. I just want all that stuff here sooner so I can start to build my computer. Anyway, I was curious as to how the 3 Day Select panned out into 7 days. Should have counted holiday. Thanks.
[Edit] What surprised me is that it took a day and a half for my stuff to be in transit to Dallas/Ft. Worth. Finally got there, but it didn't take 45 minutes to get from Jackson, MS to Houston. Anyway, Thanks.

my last order from newegg was via UPS and they said it was in california two days before they delivered it...then the night before i got it they said it was in tennessee. glitchy system, i really doubt they sent the package from cali to tennessee to washington.

Its not just lazy, its policy. I checked their site after a few packages I knew were sitting in the local warehouse didn't show up Friday, and they do tell you in their FAQs that 11/25 is as much a holiday as 11/24(except for a couple of the really high-priced options.
BTW guys, you might want to forward those logs to Newegg, so they can see how wonderful UPS 3day really is.

Not excacly sure, though I believe it is Mon-Fri excluding Federal Holidays. Any way all I was saying is if you don't consider that acceptable then you must not relieze or accept the system at all, since that is after all how it always has been and probably always will be. (Note I do believe that some people like Fedex still ship on days like Sat, though I may be wrong)
Edit: Guess I posted to late, anyway I know the days, just not excacly sure what Holidays count.

Whenever i have ordered cases from the egg they ship seperately from my order, for example a recent case order of mine was 2 coolermaster cases (which are really crappy btw) some RAM, a motherboard and I think a PSU. fedex tracking had 3 different shipments. one for each case and one for the rest. The two cases arrived one day and the other stuff arrived the next. This is because Egg has several warehouses they ship from. My guess would be there is one place that has a lot of the big stuff (like cases) and another that has the electronics. As far as time frame...
Pakcages could have been picked up at different times by different couriers, gone to different distribution offices, Been sent other routes depending on space in trucks etc. Also keep in mind the time oyu ordered, you ordered at 6pm one day, so technically that added a day. You also ordered it just before thanksgiving, the times leading up to holidays packages get delayed out the wazoo. I was shipping a small package to Canada (some stuff I sold in the classifieds here) I choose the 5-7 business day via FedEx. IIRC it was around this time as well and it took nearly 3 weeks for the person to get it, partially because of customs issues but that only accounted for about 2 days. The rest was attributed to holiday shipping rushes, You should have seen how many packages were at my local FedEx distribution node that week, it was scary :)
I understand about holidays, however if I had chosen FedEx Id have bet money I would have gotten my order on Saturday and not Monday, this is based on my past experiences. I guess from now on if I dont care when I get something Ill go for the cheap shipping, if I want it soon Ill choose the good ol' FedEx Saver (which is usually only 2-3$ more )

11-29-05, 02:32 PM
Yes, FedEx does seem plane faster to me. UPS was 2 days slower then FedEx last time (5 days not 3). Anyway I understand why you are mad, and if it's taking longer then its supposed to then you have a right. One thing you may want to try is just contact Newegg and keep polite. You may get lucky nad have them send you some free crap whil reassuring you the items are coming.

I too am very disappointed with UPS 3-day. I ordered some components and a case from Newegg on the 19th, and the shipment arrived on the 28th. So much for 3 business days  . The first activity in the logs showed up on Sunday, 11/20, so the way I see it, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday are the 3 business days. I should have received the shipment on Wednesday, 11/23! Instead, the shipment sat in a warehouse 10 minutes from my house for 4 days! Meanwhile, my wife gets a delivery from FedEx on Friday, 11/25. Why is it that FedEx has no problem delivering on the Friday after Thanksgiving, but UPS cannot?
The kicker is that UPS was actually operational on Friday, 11/25 (delivering international and overnight packages), and I called the 800 number to see if I could go down to the warehouse to pick up my package. I was told "No, we have a policy that customers cannot pick up packages until UPS makes at least one attempt at delivery" . So instead of having the holiday weekend to put together these parts, I have to wait until next weekend when I get some time. Also, UPS would not refund my shipping, because they claimed that Monday, 11/21, didn't count as a business day since my package didn't ship out until after 7 pm. The way I see it, UPS should take responsibility for taking so long to ship it out! There was activity registered in the logs on 11/20!!!
End of rant.

How late does UPS do shipments to houses? The case order says Out for Delivery. I don't expect the other stuff to come in 'till tomorrow or so.
For the most part as late as it takes. Often that means 11:00pm around here this time of year but on average 8:00pm or so the rest of the year.
I too am very disappointed with UPS 3-day. I ordered some components and a case from Newegg on the 19th, and the shipment arrived on the 28th. So much for 3 business days .
Since your order was placed on a Saturday newegg did not even process the order until the 21st (Monday). So the actual first movement through UPS was Monday at the earliest. Now depending on how late newegg processed the order it may or may not have been picked up on Monday so to determine if it was the fault of UPS check for the origin scan. That was the first time it was in a UPS center, count three days after that and you should have received it. Now if that is Thursday add Friday, Saturday, and Sunday to it. So it arrived right on time, you can't blame UPS for Thanksgiving holidays, sorry. :(
I.M.O.G.
11-30-05, 12:40 PM
3 day select means its 3 days from when the shipment leaves their door. The fine print will tell you that it can take 1-2 days for just processing, which means packaging and processing on your order before it even goes to shipment. So 3 day select can easily mean 5 days before it gets to you... If its longer than that still, you gotta figure in holidays and such.

What's lame isn't the speed which UPS delivers (Ordered mine black friday, got here today), but when you call UPS to arrange a pickup and find out they have a specific contract with Newegg which removes all delivery options other than "send back to shipper"
Basically, this means no pickups, no extra attempts at delivery, no address changes. I can see how this protects Newegg and its customers, but I mean cmon, I called Newegg to have a customer rep call UPS, and UPS still said they can't let me pickup. Now I have to wait till tommorrow to get my 19'' Lcd :(
I.M.O.G.
11-30-05, 06:51 PM
What blackout? I expect a shipment on Friday, and I was not aware of this... I will be at work when the shipment comes on Friday, I was planning to pick it up at the distribution center after work.
bLack0ut
11-30-05, 06:58 PM
Yup, call UPS and ask to change it to pickup. They'll flat out refuse due to this "contract" between newegg and them :(. I SHOULD be looking at a lcd right now, not a freaken crt :(
I.M.O.G.
11-30-05, 07:37 PM
I called and they said once they attempt shipment I can call back and arrange pickup. I will update this thread with the actual results... I have a hard time believing newegg would not be satisfied with the package sitting at the UPS distribution center as any other package would.
bLack0ut
11-30-05, 07:51 PM
Dang, they said that? The TWO reps I spoke to said that the pickup option wasn't available cause of the contract. They made it sound holy or something. "Holy contract!" <bright shiny halo>
AZNBoiOnFIYA
11-30-05, 07:55 PM
they have to attempt to deliver it first before you can go pick it up. i think thats their policy.
bLack0ut
12-01-05, 03:15 PM
Ok, they tried to deliver again today, and again I wasn't home ( school). The deliver time for tommorrow was also during school, so I was getting very ****ed. I called UPS and finally, after yelling at three different reps, one of them said that he would try and attempt a third delivery tonight.... I HATE UPS. Screw this stupid contract between them and Newegg. This might just be in my area (Chicagoland).
and btw aznboi, they tried delivering it twice and STILL wont let me pick it up.
bLack0ut
12-01-05, 05:09 PM
Update: UPS can't ship it tonight, I won't be there tommorrow(work). Sent newegg this email.
I recently bought an LCD moniter, expected it to be shipped Wednesday,
and it was. Of course, since they delivered it at 1 pm, and I have
work, I wasn't there to sign it. The next deliver date would be the
following day, Thursday, at 1 pm also. Again I wasn't able to sign
the package, due to work. The expected deliver time tommorrow is
again 1 pm. Over the last two days, I have been trying,
unsucessfully, to arrange the package for pickup. The UPS customer
service rep keeps telling me that due to these arrangements of Newegg,
they are not allowed to arrange pickup for me. I also called Newegg,
to tell them to allow UPS to arrange pickup. Of course, the Newegg
rep tells me that he can't do that. Why is this? Why does the
delivery HAVE to occur when I'm not there, and have to be signed for
as well. I can't do pickup or "sign to leave package". I'm
expecting, again, that I won't be there tommorrow and I assume that
the package will be sent back to Newegg. Am I supposed to deal with
this as a customer?
AZNBoiOnFIYA
12-01-05, 06:13 PM
next time why dont you ship it to some place where someone can sign for it, i.e. your parents work or something. i figured this was going to happen when i first started ording stuff online. im still surprised ups wont let you pick it up. you should call them up and yell at them some more. maybe thatll work :)
I.M.O.G.
12-01-05, 07:17 PM
Welp, we won't get to see my results from the shipping this time... Apparently I left my apartment number off of the order, so its now returning to newegg and they're giving me a full credit on my card, shipping and all, no restocking fee. I could have sworn I put suite 301 on there, but its most likely that I screwed up I suppose.
Gonna have to resubmit my order.

bLackOut: That's weird because UPS left my Saitek Gaming Keyboard, MX518, and Plantronics headset at the door to my moms house last night at around 8 P.M. I didn't get it that night, so before school this morning I hauled ass over to my moms house and picked up the package before I went to school.

Now I have to wait till tommorrow to get my 19'' Lcd :(
Thats to protect you, the end user. It'd be terrible if someone called in with your tracking # and had the package redirected to their house. Newegg might of have restricted certain categories (i.e. cost, times sensitive shipments). Thats not UPS trying to get you, its one of the many options that shippers love about using UPS. In this case, it protects newegg from fradulent claims.
Also, the entire week of Nov 21st through the 25 was peak week for UPS. So we had our Feeder system over 100% utilized. Our on-time network looked really good friday. Monday of this week, it blizzarded throughout North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska and Kansas. Any feeder volume that was destined through those states was delayed an entire day. (FedEx got ****ed in this mess, too... I helped shuttle packages out of a buried trailer and on the way to it, I say an over-turned FedEx trailer, too) All the while we were still picking up volume everywhere else that needed to run through those gateways. As you can imagine it ****ed everything up bad. I'm about to head in for another 12 hour work day (I stayed until 2 am last night, so I slept in) so I can rent more tractors/trailers and still optimize our networks to get our volume through. All our 2nd day air and 1st day air packages took priority through that whole mess so if you had 3 day select, you were sometimes put on the back burner. Also, thursday AND friday were considered holiday. So that would be tacted onto your shipping time. I also worked friday, as did most of Feeder IE. I'm entirely glad for newegg picking us up, I had emailed them (along with alot of my buds that work in MI and Chicago, I work in Omaha) as we wanted nothing more to see newegg packages go through our system. I'd apologize, but it'd be like me apologizing for working my ass off.
Anyway, if you have anymore questions as to why your package was delayed, give me a holler/PM.
Note: I saw your packages went through Louisville, that means they were upgraded to try to recover the delayed time from weather as they were put through our major Air Hub. That means we spent alot of money trying to correct an issue due to weather or a missort. Also, let me know where each of you live, if its in Canada, I've always seen complaints on delays on these forums and its always US custom related :-/
I hope this helped out, guys. I love these forums and it always makes me sick to my stomach to hear the bashing of UPS or FedEx.

tres, I'm not bashing UPS, I'm bashing the inflexibility of these contracts that they have with newegg. By the way, I do agree that the contract is done for our protectiong, but how is instore pickup insecure? Don't I have to show I.D. to pickup the package?
Anyways, an update on the situation. I called yet one more time to arrange a pickup last night, still refused. Luckily, for some reason, today the delivery address changed to a nonreal place, so they couldn't do the 3rd attempt. I called em up, they fixed it, I requested pickup and they granted it :D. Tonight at 8pm I'll be gazing on a beautiful LCD.
azn: The reason I decided to use my home address was because if the shipping address isn't the same as the billing address, you get delayed big time. Also, I thought I could either request pickup, have them leave it at my house, or request a certain time frame, e.g. 4 pm till night. Guess I was wrong. :(
