Hey,
What is the blue layer that's over the core of my new 1.4's. Am I supposed to remove this before putting on Artic Silver, or leave it? If I need to remove it, how should I go about that?

the core has a bit of a blue hue from the sealer stuff they use on it, i assume you either had a slow tbird or a duron before that was green, its the same stuff just blue, to be sure run your fingers over the serial number etc data stamped on the core, it should be indented in, if it is you're looking at the factory finish, ive never seen one with anything applied that shouldnt be there, you might want to look at some pics to be sure yours looks the same.
I agree with Big Mike,
The blue layer is like a "cover" it protects
the core from humidity, scratches ect.

You can sometimes lap this blue stuff to
make it thiner, I herd it can improve temps
by 1 degree. If you are a Heavy cooling geek you
may want to do this, otherwise leave it alone.
BUT DO NOT REMOVE ALL OF IT!
