I have this problem I discovered today. whenever I use java or cause sun java to activate thru a website or any kind of applet my machine just locks up and when I click my mouse I get a BEEP and have to reset manually.

I tried with machine at stock settings with no overclock, same thing.

Tried in IE and firefox, same thing.

Tried uninstalling and reinstalling it, same thing.

Anyone else have this issue or know whats up?

Could it be linked to video card drivers perhaps? I've seen certain cards act funny with java such as fuzzy 2d image when its being used on nvidia and ATI cards. just a thought...

Any insight would be appreciated. weirdest thing I ever saw. :shrug:

yeah I put it in today first time after reformatting 2 weeks ago, gave me 1.5 automatically

ok after a fresh install this is still happening, java script works fine but anything that actually opens java fully still results in a LOCK UP :mad:

Did you download the JRE straight from java.sun.com?

ya I fingered it out.

I was using 81.95 forceware drivers when i discovered the problem, after a fresh windows install i tried again same problem lol, I switched to 81.94 forceware drivers and no more java probs go figure :shrug:

lol, fingered, just as bad as me typing with cold fingers.

I tried this and it worked for me, some drivers just don't like java

yeah its to bad cuz the 81.95 were the best drivers for my machine across the board for all games ...
