Hi all just wanted to see how my asus gf3 8200 racked up against all the other gf3s out their. Im running win98se with a 1450 proc. Plz post results so I have something to compare with. I benchmarked 7223 at 215/485 with 3dmark2001.... Thanks all ron

Thats pretty good, but you should be able to overclock your GF3 more.
I clocked mine to 235/535 with an AMD 1.4 @ 1.67 and got just under 7200 on Win2K. Was using the 21.81 Dets.
You should be getting more than that in my opinion.

Just wondering jon what type of card do you have? And how do you guys gets your speed up that high. On my tweak utility it only goes upto 220/550. Is their some other tweak utiltily I should be using. My card runs at 113 F and when i run 3d2001 it exit out becuase card gets to hot.
Mine's a VisionTek GF3. I use RivaTuner for overclocking and would use/recommend nothing else. Excellent little tweaker. May not have all the bells and whistles some others have, but it doesn't have alot of the junk I have no clue about either.

Thanks for the tip jon im going to go download that right now ...but I have one me quick question. Why do you think I should be getting higher marks??? Your card is way over clocked compared to mine and im at 7223 and you said you were below 7200...? Did you mean 8200 or something??or should my card be higher or what? im confused :) Thanks Ron

I get 7120 with the rig in my sig *yeah, ryme* And i use powerstrip to OC it.
Thats a good score for your rig...
And I neverliked powerstrip to oc my card I wouldn't recommend it :(
I use NVMax for overclocking and tweaking mine. That score on the sig was recorded with Athlon at 1678MHz (11.5x146MHz), DDR memory at cas2 turbo and V8200d@247/535MHz. There were no artifacts on tests. Temperatures after 3D Mark are typically 47° GPU and 30° memory. Card is aircooled with original heatsinks (lapped and AS II), no voltage modifications.
I guess it has something to do with luck how well overclocking card one gets... Mine works for 250/537MHz flawlessly but when I overclock rest of the system much I have to drop some of the o/c. Many can go much higher, some of them with voltage modifications made on display card and better cooling.
And Ozzy -I think that your result is good. The nearest bench I have is 7299 3D Marks V8200@225/518MHz, CPU at default.
I think you should be happy,
My comp only gets 680 on 3dMarks 2001. :( :(
Darn TNT2 M64

I have that card on 1 of my comps, no hardware t&l, thats the kiss of dead for 3dmarks. :D
Win98 normally scores a couple hundred points higher than Win2K in the benchmarks.
My card is clocked a bit higher than yours and my CPU is pulling a bit more but I can't justify you not even getting 100 points higher than mine. Could be wrong, however. There may be a few other things playing into this considering how the rest of my system is setup compared to yours.
Don't feel at all that you have a disappointing score. It's a very GOOD score. I would just imagined you being closer to 7500 but every system is a little different and I don't put a whole lot of faith in any synthetic benchmarks.
Enjoy RivaTuner!

Hey YMAN I have that same card and they overclock very well. From the default clock of 125/145 I can get up to 150/170 with the default heatsink(no fan) using coolbits. Even though the card still sucks it helps a lot. I was getting an average 711 score on 3dMark and now I get 960. The card lasted hours of testing through Max Payne, Quake III, and UnrealT. Man I need a new card:(
what is coolbits?
Overclocking software or something to make the gpu cooler?
I have a huge 80MM exhaust cooler under the video card.
Used electrical tape to cause the air to move over the
card.
Works great, but the bottom of the gpu, is interestingly hot,
I will need, artic silver epoxy! :D

coolbits is an overclocking program. Are you overclocking your card right now? I would not recommend powerstrip. It oc's the card but now as well as coolbits. Also, what drivers do you have installed right now?
I will overclock it right now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think I am using Detonator 12.41 drivers
whitch drivers do you reccomend?
- I am searching the net for the "coolbits" program.
After I find it and I will OC that darn card!!!!! :D :D :D
REVENGE IS MINE!!!! :p :D :p
I looked  into my archives
and found Nvmax.
I will try that first.
-Where can I get coolbits?
Please sent exact link or e-mail it to me.
Or maybe you can post it right here!

I reccomend 2185 or 2183 both worked great with mine. First download those. One last question. What os are you running?
Windows ME, Using a patch for it to run under dos.
(So runs like 98)
OVERCLOCKED TO 150/170!!!

ok go into control panel. Then display then settings then advanced. Go to the tab that says TNT 2 model 64. Then additional properties then clock frequencies. Check allow clock frequency adjustments and it will ask you to restart. After rebooting go back to the same place and you can move the slider left or right increasing or decreasing. This is the simplest way to oc the card. Treat it like any oc and don't go immediatly up to 150/170. Go a little bit at a time until you reach the limit. Yours sounds like it has better cooling than mine so you should be able to atleast hit 150/170 easy. BUT DON'T JUST TRUST ME. Take it slowly and stress the card after each. If you can't oc the card this way i'll tell you another method.
EDIT: oh ya before it'll let you apply the oc you have to test the settings. This test is nowhere near reliable. Also, make sure you check apply new settings at startup or you'll have to do it again next time you reboot.
I am using Nvmax,
The cards running at 150/170 STABLE!
I am gunna push it harder.....
Hey ]-[itman,
The TNT2 M64 Memory is a bit unstable at higher speeds...
NEVER TRY:
180/200 - Major Failure. :D :p :D

LOL I could have told you that one ;)

I just meant with my personal experience with this card (sorry should have made that more clear) I have no idea how good powerstrip works on other systems/cards. But when I used powerstrip to oc my card to 150/170 I scored 920 in 3dMark2001 but when I used coolbits I scored 960. I could also push my card a little further using coolbits but I didn't want to chance it, not without better cooling atleast. Just my experience with powerstrip.

Actually with direct cooling on that card you might be able to hit atleast higher than 150/170. Read my earlier post http://forums.overclockers.ws/vb/showthread.php?threadid=41392
There I got to 160/180. I later went back and tried the same settings, but this time I used an old fan from my brothers comp and set up a little stand for it to sit on(actually half suspended half stand and half my friend holding it .5+.5+.5=1? ahh it's too late at night.). As I said in the post I didn't want anything permanent. Anyway I went through 3dMark easy and then did Quake III for two hours(friend left but positioned the fans so it stayed). Anyway it worked great and I'm sure you could get it with good cooling. You'd have to do something permanent of course or atleast semi-permanent I'm going to bed now I'm not making sense to me!
