View Full Version : Best video card for $200-$250 range?
Im looking at upgrading the my video card as I have just purchased a new Abit AN8-SLI motherboard and a 3700+ San Diego (overclocked to 2.8ghz currently). Im wondering what is the best card(s) to go with. I would certainly be willing to mod/overclock the video card as well.
So far I was thinking either 2 6600 GTs (which would cost about $230) or possibly the ATI GTO2 card that can be modded to 16 pipelines and clocked to x850 XT specs from Sapphire (around $230 as well). Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Ive read alot of good things on the GTO2, so i would be for that. :)
Dont get SLI unless you have two of the best possible video cards. So I would say go with the GTO2 or maybe a 6800GS.

All of the above but maybe throw in the x850pro which can be softmod ed to x850CT PE.

The best bang for you $$ around that price range is the X800XL. It will out perform the 6600GT SLI. I just saw one on sale not too long ago on newegg for $215 but not there anymore. The price must have gone up because of Christmas. I'm sure you can still find one below $250. A friend of mine just bought his for $200.

I know a few people who have gotten the x800 gto2s and it is pretty much guaranteed to overclock fairly well. So I would recommend the gto2 as far as experience goes.
