I had Litestep before.. Its no good really ...

People would sometimes comment me "Your desktop is messed up I suggest you use Litestep.."

Its sorta lame....

No it wont mess up the Windows Shell... Your acutally changing the shell to the litestep shell you dl... editing your system.ini

Explorer.exe to whichever..

Awhile back I decided to try Litestep again and I tried something called "Plastik" and it kept crashing without good features...

Its really up to you how you like your desktop I like my Windows how it is :D

Well read a readme...
You'll have to open up System.ini and change your shell...
You cant load two explorers...

Whip out the readme...

Your Litestep is like dumping your Windows Explorer and using Litesteps...

maybe it's better if I don't install it...

i was the one who pointed you towards litestep so here it goes.

k 1 its a great tool to use if you know how to use it right and get the right theme.
man im on normal windows theme right now because of my reformat and i keep right clicking to go into the start bar, man thats annoying.

the litestep bible is important for when problems do arise.(bible=readme)

most the problems that have come up for me are almost always when you first install and the first reboot and most of the time there fixable pretty quick.

try it, and youll probably like it, but it is some what risk and\or annoying to get it going.:(

hey mike go to the site get the distro installer I just used it for the first time.

damn its the best it installs quick and easy.

plus it has the best selection of themes that come with an installer I've seen yet.

you'll have to restart your comp for all of the setting to become complete but its the best one for newbies.

trust me try it.

*warning may cause sever system crash and make your computer explode. heehehehehe*

but seriously it may cause problems but in all likelihood it wont.

All you have to do to return to the windows desktop from litestep is to boot up into DOS using a start up disk and edit the system.ini which contains a line which reads

shell=litestep.exe

this line refers to where the OS will find the litestep shell if you change this line to refer back to explorer you obtain the windows shell

shell=Explorer.exe

The above information is for Windows 9x based systems however you can manualy edit for the shell on NT based systems however the technique is slightly more time consuming and detailed and as such I will only provide the information if requested
