looks like the mounting is the same as it is for my 6000 block, so i dont have to take mobo out! just need to drain my system and swap blocks
this will be the perfect realword test as this block is supposed to be optimal on dualcore procs and i just so happen to have a 830 @ 4.1ghz
currently im idling @ 38 and loading @ 47

results and more pix to come soon :sn:

as you can see, its a nice looking block, but it does have some minor defects
as many have reported, swiftech didnt do the greatest job cutting the block and it shows. there are some small shavings still attached to the block, and the top of the base isnt perfectly flat, as you can see in the right side of the last picture. but, it isnt as bad ~ the shaving that is..there's just a little bit.
now to clean up the block and get this puppy mounted

*PICS OF BLOCK ADDED*
sorry for the delay guys
i had to eat dinner(my little sister wouldnt stop screaming that mom wanted me upstairs :p)

time to put clean this puppy up, put it together, get the 1/2" fittings installed in w.some plumbers goop and get this badboy mounted :d

Nice, big pics! Post what you do to it, as I'll probably just copy off you when I get mine :) Live and learn...or let others live first then copy what they learned.

Do you think you will be able to figure out any difference in overclockability of the two blocks?

i doubt my overclockability will go up as my load temp on the 6000 is 47..my idle temp on air was 51 w/aftermarket cooling so by no means was it holding me back. then again, you never no. ill see in a little bit :d

no need for plumbers goop, the barbs went in nice n' tight then i tightened em all the way down w/a wrench

Mine also had shavings, one or two large ones and MANY very small copper bits. I recommend cleaning this block well or at least blasting it down good with water before installing into the loop.

Having been a machinist for a while, I'm not too impressed with the quality - but at the same time there's no way I could manufacture this block for $40.

Also on one of the top housings the sprue is not flush (right between the inlet and outlet) and may impede water flow a bit. The other is perfectly flush.

EDIT: Better pics of inside top:

EDIT 2: Also should mention there were a few copper shavings stuck to the o-ring and to the top plate right around a few of the bolt holes.

EDIT 3: CAD Model

lookin good lads.. this shavings lark sux.. dont anyone check this stuff b4 it goes on sale... im moveing up to a storm. should be here in the morning.. ill be taking it apart str8 away and puting the little bugger in my ultrasonic

welp
i got er up n' running :D
best part of all, i didnt havta take my mobo out as the mounting skrews are the same as they are on my 6000
anyways. temps are lower! idle is now 35C and load is 42C. a 3c difference on idle and 5c difference on load. not bad :)

i would guess that when the as5 settles temps will go down another degree or so.

all in all this block is deffinetly worth the $40 i paid for it :)

so anyone that was waiting to hear these results, GO BUY IT!
just make sure to clean it first...heh

Thanks d! I can't wait to give water a try. Slowly but surley my pieces are coming togehter. At the beginning of the week I got my apogee and today I picked up a CM Stacker on ebay for $135.

Looks great d94, going h2o after the holidays! :D I was actually considering making my own block but for $40. i can't beat that!

You guys really are being nice about the poor quality of the cuts. What about the person who doesn't take the block about and has copper shavings possibly harm their pump or something.
