Hello people, this thread is about the 6800GT AGP flavor.
I got my before 20 days at 370 Euros.
Its an NX6800GT , made by MSI , it’s a nice card but I had to RMA it , as it was giving me corruption at the 2D , every time that my system was waken from the suspend S3 mode.
So now I am waiting for the replacement, in 10 days or so.
What I want from you is to post your systems specs with this card, and also to write few comments, of your likes and dislikes about it.
Beware this is not an ATI vs NVIDIA, or what NVIDIA card is better than other NVIDIA thread
.
This thread has to do with one report, of your everyday life with your system, good moments or even and nags.
And specially related to gaming, or issues with the card.
You can also add links and info that will interest a new owner.
My own question, I do have one NV5 r2, does it worth to replace the original MSI cooper cooler with it.
It’s almost winter time, in Greece and I do not see any high temps to worry?

My 6800GT was great. It was a strange overclocker though, I never once got it to what seemed a stable o/c so I just left it stock.
I know there is a Gainward Golden Sample bios for the 6800GT floating around it gave me better performance (slightly), and somewhat stabilized my overclock.
Anyways, good luck with your new video card!

All that i can think of, about this Bios is that it can haves more lower Cas latency numbers for the memory .
Thats why is more stable . :)
But my choice is also to operate the card at stock, the power of it is huge, there no need for further tweaks .
I have 2 XFX 6800GTs in SLI. Originally I had just the one which I was able to o/c to 410/1100 stable. It was an excellent performer.
Later I replaced the stock heatsink with the zalman vf700alcu and managed to kick the oc up to 425/1250 stable. Man it freakin flew.
About 2 months ago i added a second identical card for SLI. I am very happy with the performance and it runs very well/stable at stock. However, I am having great difficulty ocing either card while in SLI, but I am still working on it.
Overall, as a standalone card the 6800GT performs very well at stock, overclocks well, and performs even better when overclocked.

eVGA 6800GT AGP, got it about 5-6 months ago, ran great out of the box. Was a great upgrade from the FX5200 that held me on for a month or two. Only disadvantage of the 6800GT was that I needed to get a new PSU, since my 12V was at like 15amps or something, but the OCZ Powerstream520 was worth it, overkill, but who cares. Didn't OC too much, and didn't try flashing it to Ultra or anything. Just did a little bit using coolbits and rivatuner, OCing didn't go too great, but I didn't need to OC. Now it runs BF2 at 1280x1024 with mainly high settings with 2-3 medium settings with 2GB of ram on a 3400+. It can run HL2 at all max settings with 2xAA at 1280x1024.
My PNY 6800GT has worked perfectly running at 400/1100 daily and when I do benchmarking I can get it up to about 415/1120 (havent tried higer). I got this around the time it came out, so ive had the system running at these speeds for a while.

My XFX 6800GT is amazing. I'm running it barely over Ultra speeds right now and no artifacting what so ever. It's been running like this for the past few months now. I'd have to say my happiest moments with this card is when I played the new FPS games that came out this year. Which is solely why I built my new system, to play these new games. When I saw CoD2 running smoothly at 1152x864 and a majority of the settings on high, in multiplayer, I didn't regret getting the AGP 6800GT anymore.

I have the leadtek 68gt agp, Very nice card, Easily overclocked past ultra speeds and has been rock solid for several months now. I haven't run into a game yet that the card can't handle.

Thanks people for the response.
I am still waiting for the new card to show up, in 3 days or so.
From your current reports I will partially agree, that the sweet spot between resolution and performance is the 1280x1024.
But my choice was the 1600 with less AA and filters.
Any way, as soon I got the new card, I will have the opportunity for further testing.
One is the truth, I will enjoy it, no matter what.. :santa:
had 2
liked them alot after i got better cooling that is

I love mine. I have a Chaintech AA6800GT. The card has a Gainward GS GT BIOS, with 1.4v on the perfomrnace 3D. I lapped the stock copper sink, and applied AS5, and also lapped the ram cooler and applied AS5.
The card runs 425/1140 24/7 and will bench at 435/1140. With aftermarket cooling, I'm sure it would even do better. It really needs better ram cooling.
They are great cards, with a great GPU. They are stable, and OC well. Drivers can be a pain sometimes, but drivers are different for every game, different for every card, and different for every system. You just gotta test and test and test with the drivers. It's a never ending battle with those, but that's no fault of the card, that's just the way games and simulations are.
6800GT AGP is definitly alot difference of an OCer than the PCIe versions. At first when I had an AGP PNY Verto 6800GT, it would max out at about 414/1130 with a NV5 Silencer. Not to bad but they were basicly maxed out there. Later on i moved to PCIe and my currect eVGA 6800GT with a Zalman cooler on it hits 464/1260 on air. I can push it harder but never tried.
