simple enough, i was going to be buying some vantec iceberq heatspreaders for my ram, and i was wondering if it was worth AS5ing them so they transfer better. ive never had spreaders before, because my ram has been mainly generic crap

thanks for the help :)

It's not for heat spreaders as they need something to hold them on. Also, it's capacitive qualities could be a problem.

Because of this it is recommended that it not be used on ICs by the manufacturer. If you want to use a paste, consider AS Ceramique instead.

I dont think it would be necessary to use thermal paste for ram.

Putting TIM on heatsinks would be a very long process, and probably isn't worth it (RAM usually doesn't output a high amount of heat to warrant high-end TIM and heatsinks).

You would probably want to use a AS Ceramique/AS Alumina or AS5/AS Adhesive mix, being really really careful with the latter (Capacitive).

Do you mean conductive, or is AS5 really capacitive?

It really is capacitive, and it's not too tasty either.:)

You just need to change the drink that you're chasing it with, that's all. :D

haha, thanks for the replies guys. i was just following the general rule that stock TIM's/thermal pads are utter rubbish :) oh well, went out and bought some AS5 anyway.. itll come in handy on a later build. ps, watch out next time rseven.. dont want that beer spiked with as5
