Hi to the group!! It has been some time since I posted to the group.

I am getting ready to build another computer and I will be using Windows XP.
I do not have much experience with XP so I am seeking advice from the experts...

I want to put in 2 hard drives. The smaller one will be a 100GIG HD and I only want to use it for the windows system.

the larger one will be a 300 or 320 GIG and I would like to put partitions in it.

Should I just set up my system first with the smaller drive and get the base system running and then put in the larger drive and partition it during the set up???

Any answers are appreciated...THANKS

Brian

I would setup windows on the first drive, without having the second in the system. Then once windows is installed, put in the 300GB drive and partition it with Disk Management. Simple as that.

I personally would also format the 100gig hdd. on my laptop i use a 10gig partition for winxp, and that isn't full yet. looking back i probably should have gone with 15, but i don't see the need for a full 100gig drive solely for windows. As far as when to setup and partition the 2nd drive, someone else will have to chime in. i just usually backup saves and uninstall games if i ever need more storage space, i haven't used more than 1 hdd in any of my computers so far [though i'm sure that will change sooner than later]. with that said, i don't *think* there would be any pros or cons to doing it either way [at windows install or after install].
