For the chipset? I haven't seen a swiftech cooler that works for the 875p with the loops. The swiftech one requires the holes unless they have a kit I don't know about.

And I'm not lucky. I've worked hard to pay for all of this stuff.

It's not a building, it's my home. When I wired the house I put at minimum 2 network jacks in each room, in adition the rack itself have 6 jacks because I test/configure equipment for work fairly often. The most I've had in use at one time has been 18.

Looks a lot like what i am doing. So far I have only one line to each room. Each is used for the TV linkage and if a computer is there, an El Cheapo switch is added as well.

Just wait til Christmas next year when my comps will run the Lights as well :D

Lol, I had a feeling it was your house, I was just baffled as to why you'd need so many connections, lol. :)

Here's my super highly refined finish on my home network. My patch panel in the attic. It's been life that for a year now, can't be arsed finishing it off, works fine as it is...

Slick rig Vaio, but.....how loud is that thing???

Vaio
01-17-07, 01:34 AM
Thanks :D It can be as loud or as quiet as I want it. All those switches let me go from off to 7v to 12v on every fan in the case and on the radiator. I only use two fans @7v for normal use. I'll turn on four for heavier stuff (photoshop and 3d stuff). Games get four or five (one of the rad fan switches won't work in 7v mode any more :(). If it's REALLY hot in here, and I want to play games, the fans go to 12v. Through all this, I keep my case fans at 12v, my hdd coolers at 12v, and my slot cooler at 7v (12v for games).

Haha!

Forgot to add, I totally ripped off that Ninja mod from Goshawk.

Current Temperatures...

Opteron 165 w/ Zalman Grease +Super Ninja = 30C Idle.

I haven't even lburned it in yet so I have no idea what load temperatures will be like. Hopefully below 40C. A

EDIT: After 8 hours of burning in while I was at school, temperatures never broke 40C. Core 0 was the hottest @39C, hehe. Core 1 stays below 38C, tops off at 37C.

Yeah it is really comfortable, and the desk is nothing special - just one the university provides for all student apartments. No reinforcement was necessary as it isn't very wide. At home I have a countertop stretched between two chests of drawers for my desk - that does require me to put a plank across to reinforce it otherwise it bends.

As in my sig, it's a Samsung 27" LE27T51B widescreen LCD. It's actually a TV but has VGA and DVI inputs. I ditched my 20.1" 2005fpw and moved up to the 27". I run it at the native 1366x768.

You can get the newer version now in the UK and Ireland for €699, so its probably about $699 in the states as things tend to be cheaper.

It is the 2407WFP Ultra Sharp running at the native resolution of 1920X1200. I am seriously considering selling it and getting the 3007WFP though. When I first got the 24 inch several months ago at first I thought it was to big and almost sent it back..lol.. Now I want bigger :)

The pics are a bit dated, but this is still my "main" rig right now, though I just repaired my intel p4 after it had a water leak (:bang head ) and i'm in the process of putting together an updated C2D system.

yeaaaaaaaaa. ha ha. with my sff build thats so true too but meh. that lanboy was my first watercooling case. threw it out not long ago due to it being so butchered =( my present case is almost too nice to wanna hack up, but i have a Dbox im gonna use as a guinea pig for the jigsaw. must get decent enough to cut out rad holes in the top.
My rad and fans could both fit inside, but I want the freedom to add more hardware when i want, if i put both inside, i can have another graphics card and thats all. I wanna get a audigy sometime *maybe a 4 since its pci e* and a tuner.

That's probably an Antec Aria. I have one and had to cut a blowhole in the opposite side & mount a 80mm blowing inward, my temps were just too high. If you want to know parts, in my sig, it's the HTPC2. It's a great little case.

http://img159.imageshack.us/img159/6450/img3019ru1.jpg

Far left is my hifi unit which i use because I like decent sound :D Onkyo unit. headphones there for when my housemates and neighbours are asleep.

Laptop is my main rig - 17in WS and it runs usually Gentoo but sometimes (every week or two) I'll boot into Windows XP.

Boxes on the floor are:

- Black unit: Dual P3/850 w/ 512MB RAM and 20GB HDD as yet unutilised.
- Big unit: XP2100 w/ 1GB RAM and ~2TB HDD space. It runs squid, apache, iptables, samba, nfs, azureus, and irssi in a screen session for my use :).

The bucket is there because of the leak in the roof - it dribbles down when anyone showers.

The DSL router is just acting as a switch and wireless AP. Network topology is: INTERNET - Serverbox - Router - PCs.

For what its worth, this system really screams. Other than the boards limited overclocking of this chip, 2.04 is significantly faster than my 805 -Pentium D I was overclocking at 3.6ghz. I can run CS:Source with all settings maxed out at 1280 resolution with no skips or hickups, and can run FSX at 1280 resolution with ALL graphics options maxed out except for AI traffic and get steady 30-35FPS in all weather types. That says a LOT for this Overclocked 7600GTKO. My friend with an 8800GTX is getting minimal improvemnts with the same applications. Hense, I will either SLI this 7600 or will wait for the 8800GTX to come down in price. I simply cannot justify it yet.

Good far away shot of my computer and my new DIY computer desk. I did all the planning for the desk, and my brother-in-law and I did all the wood work and assembly. It's got two sitting sections, one side for my love and the other for me so we both have work space. It's got plenty of space for everything I need. Theres a cabinet beneath where my computer is sitting for component boxes, and the one door in the center is for my printer which slides out on a tray.

The desk is also made to fufill my enjoyment of seeing less wires. The only one you actually see is from my mouse. The rest run through holes in the desk, and connect to a surge protector that sits in a specifically created area that is enclosed so you can't see the surge protector unless the door on it is opened. Anyways, continued!

Here's a few of mine.

http://thepcguy.myvnc.com/jim/desk

The desk is custom made by yours truly. This is the second project I've worked on with wood and am quite happy with the results. The first project was my book shelf. Eitherway, the top of the desk is made from Oak stair treads, the apron is Brazilian Walnut, the legs are maple, the shelf is Poplar, and the plugs in the top of the desk (to mask the screw holes) are American cherry. It's not perfect, but it was made out of scrap wood that a friend picked up on job sites. Works for me. Same story with the book shelf. Next project is a Mame arcade cabinet which I have everything except buttons for. The monitor will be my 20.1" IBM CRT, computer is a HP Pavilion that I re-capped and saved (1.7Ghz Celeron), and the speakers are a set of Altec Lansings (2.1) that I pulled from the trash. I'll make sure to post pictures.

Actually, they're those packets that you pour into water to give them flavor. I've been doing this thing where I only drink soda like once a month, and seeing as I hate the taste of water, it's the best way to deal with it. You can even see multiple bottles in the picture too. lol

The HD coolers are VANTEC.

The Dominator fans are very quiet and it will cover 4 sticks at once. the fans attach to the ram locks good design.

The chipset fans are coolermaster. I just used the fans and chunked the the heatsinks.

It takes some serious patience to do a neat wiring job on the 900 (especially with a new build that you just want to get up and running). With a 680i and 2 8800GTX's the case gets filled up in a hurry!

I saw a thread on another forum on modding the motherboard mounting plate to run the wiring behind the motherboard, but I will be darned if I can find it now!

Anyway, here are some pics:

A little velcro and some electrical tape to hide the fan speed controllers
http://img296.imageshack.us/img296/902/680ibuild048jc3.jpg

Routing the SATA cables. Also note that I am using the middle bays for the floppy disk and DVD ROMS.
http://img296.imageshack.us/img296/9858/680ibuild047dp8.jpg

Ran the front panel audio between the motherboard and mounting plate being careful not to interfere with any of the electrical doo-dads on the back of the motherboard.

For me the IDE and Floppy cables were way too long, but I managed to stuff them away as best I could. I really wish someone sold a kit for making custom length IDE and floppy cables. I tried modding some and just managed to ruin a few cables!
http://img296.imageshack.us/img296/1124/680ibuild053jv5.jpg

And finally, here is how I routed the 8pin connector for the CPU power. I ran it behind the 8800s. And yes, the wiring looks pretty sloppy here, but I did get it cleaned up. Unfortunately, it was getting late, and I didn't snap any photos of the cleaned up PSU wiring. My PSU doesn't have modular connections, so it took a lot of patience to neatly tuck all the excess wiring under the drive bays.
http://img444.imageshack.us/img444/6884/680ibuild066yk4.jpg

Anyway, it is a tight fit, but you can neatly wire the 900. And if you are willing to cut up the motherboard mounting plate, I am sure you could make the wiring all but invisible.:)

how loud is that antec 900 fan at the top?

Not loud at all I have it on Medium and all other fans on low and hardly hear it...

The only fans that seems to make a heap of noise when on anything other then low is the front two. The other fans are not tooooo bad when on anything other then low.

Just picked this case up this past weekend also and love it...

Have not got a chance to do much wire mang. just my red cath I had from last case inside this one.

Arizona Green Tea is the shiznit :D
how loud is that antec 900 fan at the top?
I have the same case as well and it is extremely quiet. The noisiest thing in my comp are the hard drives and CD rom (one of them, the sony is quiet) I have all set to low except the top and cpu are at medium. I am however too ashamed of the state of the wires inside to post a pic just yet lol. I wanted to get it together to make sure everything worked. Then going back to tweak it tonight, and a little OCin' It has excellent airflow but unless you are very careful you can make a mess of wires in a heartbeat, especially with where everything has to run to. and I even have a modular PSU haha.

Finally got a digi cam Here are some pics of my Black and Blue

It didn't fit in the cabinet built into the desk, so I have to keep it under the desk. Never mind that Crow's nest behind it
*snip pics*

is that mobo a P5W-DH deluxe? the remote on the side of your case is indentical to what came with mine.

ehh dude i don't think you have every seen sony trinitron FD tubing, IMHO and serveral of my friends, IBM P275's, anything with a sony FD tubing gives a better image over any LCD. Anytime i look at a LCD, my first reaction is "Oh god these colors suck." now there are people who just like LCD look over CRT's but they agree with my logic after they see my monitor. Even though its 80 punds and takes of 1/3 of my desk its worth it =). Not to mention it was only a 160 bucks.

Some of us don't waste money on useless junk or upgrades that don't show a significant increase in performance. In this way, we don't have to have 8800GTX "coming soon" in our signatures because we've already got one. :\/

I used to have a Viewsonic PF775 17" CRT with a trinitron tube. I would have rathered loose my computer than that monitor, infact, it survived 3 major upgrades. Only reason I went to LCD was cause I wanted 19" and I had limited desktop space. Could you imagine putting 2 19" CRTs on a glasstop desk?

Most CRTs are crap, but there are some professional series that are a step above almost everything out there.

Noise? What Noise? Old age and a bunch of speakers take care of that!
And with all the coin I dropped on this puppy I sure as heck want to see it!!

Actually, I don't find it to be loud. The fans are quieter than my old Dell and the occasional burst from the raptors doesn't bother me. Turned out quieter than I thought it'd be.
