Finally, after five long weeks of waiting I’ve got my DangerDen Maze 2 :D
Thank U DangerDen!

But I can't keep it back... I was a tad (quite a lot really) disappointed when I actually saw the block. It has everything but a smooth base (I’m not even talking about a mirror finish)! Granted, I just revisited their homepage and at first glance they don't really promise a mirror finish......but this is a bit too *unfinished* :(
Anyway, I'll have to do a lot of heavy lapping.

Now, a simple question: what's the final grid I'm aiming at, and how do I do it? I mean, wet or dry?

Most people agree 600 is a good place to stop. If you go too far it might actually hurt performance (read it in an article on OC's). I've used up to 1200 and it produced a nice shine and some bragging rights, but I doubt I'll go any farther than 600 in the future.

Most people wet sand. Basically it lets you clean out the crap that accumulates in the paper (also lubricates a bit for contol). If you don't want to bother, just have a crapload of sandpaper on hand.

Might want to do a final lap with arctic silver to get some silver particles in the crevices.

Other than that, just use a nice, THICK piece of glass so you are assured of a flat finish.

Congrats!!! and to reinforce Shroomer's comment, I would stop at 600.
