I'm looking to buy a decent joystick for under $30, nothing too extravagant. What would you guys recommend?
IMO the Saiteks are the best. I previously owned a Sidewinder, but it is garbage next to a Saitek.

You can probably look around and find a better price.

I' ve heard that the throttle is inconveniently placed on that joystick so that if you tilt the joystick back all the way it will hit the throttle control when the throttle is at max. Have you had this problem at all?

Saitek joysticks are good. Mine was like 29.99
When they redesigned it they moved the throttle from the front side to the rear. I have both designs and prefer the old to the new. However, I haven't had any problem with hitting the throttle. You may want to check it out for yourself in a store. It is a very comfortable stick to use, particularly if you use it a lot.

I love the logitech Wingman extreme digital 3D, and the Microsoft Sidewinder.
I have each

I have the Saitek Cyborg Evo Wireless. The throttle placement on the the back of the joystick is a major negative. I recommend the Logitech Wingman Extreme Digital 3D. It's not as new of a design but the ergonomics of it are great, and it still has 7 buttons, 8 way HAT switch, sliding throttle, and joystick twist.

Ok I'm deciding between Saitek Cyborg Evo (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0000AW9P1/sr=1-16/qid=1133723164/ref=sr_1_16/002-2911193-0167264?%5Fencoding=UTF8) and Logitech Extreme 3D Pro (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00009OY9U/sr=1-17/qid=1133723164/ref=sr_1_17/002-2911193-0167264?%5Fencoding=UTF8).
The Saitek has the inconveniently placed throttle and the Logitech apparently doesn't maintain its calibration very long. I'm leaning towards the Logitech since it is cheaper and has a better button layout, but if it stops working after a month I will be seriously ****ed off. Anyone have any experience with the Logitech?

Well, I have a Logi wheel, and it did loose its calibration after like two weeks, so i may be able to help.
--It wasn't THAT off, and all I did was uplug/plug the USB in and it worked fine.

my Logi is awesome. Ive had mine for a few years now, still works well. The throttle is incredible.
Calibration is decent.

I have that Saitek. It is VERY nice. Adjustable to fit your hand size, well built, and looks awesome.

Here's the model that I mentioned earlier. I'm not sure about the "Pro" version since it looks to have the rear throttle problem like the Saitek Cyborg Evo.
