I got a bud here, who wants to overclock his T-Bird 900. He'll need to unlock the multiplier, right? I don't have anything or any links to where can I find good & easy info about it... Could anyone post a link to the L1 pencil trick?
Thx ahead.
here ya go. http://www.merc100.com/socketa_ocpg3.htm
heres where i learned it. although i question the reliability of this method. I have been in search of a conductive ink pen to close the bridges with but am still using the pencil marks for now.

to anyone who reads this.....
what method are you using to close your L1 bridges? (pencil, pen, defogger repair kit?)
Just curious

A guy once told me a good way of keeping the pencil tick for long:
Just put some nail polish on the bridges after you closed 'em... Never tried that, cause my chip's unlocked, and I dunno, maybe the polish is conductive, not sure. But it seems a good method.
What do you think?
For the L1 pencil trick Overclockers.com has a great tutorial. Just point here (http://www.overclockers.com/tips402/) & click away:D
For the conductive ink penn, which I think is the best way, you can find a distributor at this (http://www.chemtronics.com/catalog/catalog.cgi?action=list_products&category=7#20140) place. Head on over to there list of distributors & if you don't find one in your area one of there people will mail it to you. That's what I did.
i dont know if i'd wanna do that. sounds kinda scary

Conductive pens can be had online from either Chemtronics or Radio Shack at
http://www.chemtronics.com/catalog/catalog.cgi?action=list_products&category=7
and
http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=CTLG&category%5Fname=CTLG%5F005%5F012%5F000%5F000&product%5Fid=910%2D3890
respectively.
Note that Radio Shack stores do not stock the pen, it is an online order only. You can order the RS pen from the page above for $8.69 plus shipping. I don't know how to get the Chemtronics one, but there's a "Locate Sales Rep" link and a bunch of numbers at the bottom of the page that should be helpful.
I used pencil to connect my L1 bridges initially, and then switched to conductive ink when I suspected a problem with the pencil trick. Thus far I haven't noticed any improvement with conductive ink althoug I remain suspicious that the pencil trick is less reliable in some circumstances.

use a pencil and put a piece of scotch tape over the bridges. My friend did this and his has ran for 2 years without redoing the penciling
I've done it with both a pencil and rear window defogger, and have had equal success with either. Two AKBA DURON 600's, each will do at least 1100MHz.
A lot of people have reported better success with the more permanent method.
Good Luck!
