This may be common to all 630 owners, but I still wanted to express my amazement over this CPU.
My previous rig was a 506 that I got up to 4GHz, but required pretty high voltage for it to be stable (1.51v). Plus it ran really hot, had to get a Thermaltake Big Typhoon to keep the temps reasonable.
I decided to overhaul the entire thing: got a 7800GT PCI-E video, Antec SuperLanBoy case, and ABIT AW8 motherboard. For the HSF I really didn't like the Big Typhoon. It worked great, but the way it mounted really bugged me. So I took a shot at the Coolermaster Hyper6+.
Well, this processor went to 4GHz at stock voltage and is idling at 26C, full load appears to be no more than 42C. Either this CPU runs extremely cool or this HSF is pretty decent. Regardless, I'm blown away compared to what I had to go through with the 506.
What I am wondering is this indicative of being able to go much higher than 4GHz? Seems like I have plenty of voltage room to play with. Just need to get better RAM to even attempt to go beyond the 1066FSB.
And, by the way, I like the Hyper6+ WAY better than the Typhoon. Much easier to mount and no guessing as to how tight to screw stuff down.
