Help with XP

Everything seems to be working fine, but my desktop icons keep mvoing themselves back to their starting positions. The really odd part is that only some of the icons are affected, there are a select few that stay put. I havve noton antivirus, zone alarm firewall, spyware doctor, adaware se (free version), and spybot search and destroy and run them rgularly to keep the computer clean, but obviously somthing has gotten through i have taken these procautions.

right-click on your desktop, hit "arrage icon's by", and make sure that auto-arrange is unchecked

yup, that is already turned off, i'm talking that i arrange them the way i want, turn the computer off, and the next time i turn it on some ofthe icons are scrambled back to a position like auto arrange were on, but it only affects some of the icons, not all.

Try right clicking the desktop--> Arrange Icons By--> Lock Web Items on Desktop. 'Lock Web Items on Desktop' specifies whether Web content windows or items that you have placed on your desktop are locked in place and can’t be moved. Select the check box to lock Web content in place, or clear the check box if you want to be able to move Web content. If 'Lock Web Items on Desktop' is checked, items can be moved but they're moved back after reboot.
