Radeon® X800 XL DVD Edition 256MB PCI Express®
Radeon® X1800 XL 256MB PCI Express® (crossfire edition)?

Between these cards, difference of lets say $40. Which do you choice?

Dude, get the top one. Don't buy a crossfire edition unless you plan to cross it up with crossfire.

I would choose the X1800XL because it will last enough longer than the X800XL to be worth the extra $40.
Is the top one supposed to be an X1800XL as well?

Does he even have a crossfire mobo, if he does I would still say 1800XL. x800XL in crossfire... ugh.. so much better for 1800XL

Can you use the cross fire one by itself?
Maybe he is confused and meant X1800XL not X800XL because that is either a real ripoff of a X800XL or a real nice deal on a X1800XL or both.

Yes but if he doesn't have a crossfire mobo and another card, whats the point?

Because he can still run a single card and who's to say he won't run CF in the future?

SO 60$ difference, I do not have a crossfire motherboard yet (this is just "crossfire ready" this is not the crossfire edition) So regardless to use crossfire i would need, another card and motherboard.
But the x1800 has shader 3.0 (which I hear, makes the world of difference)
This is going on my new set up, 820/intel
Note: just to save the hassle, this is an EPP offered to me from ATI. SO these prices are not available for the end user.

The X1800XL stomps the X800XL no problem, that is if you want to shell out that much more money ,also the x1800XL is ATi's newest generation so it'll also get lots of love from ATi drivers.
The x800XL benches a rough 11k in 3dm03 and the x1800XL benches 15 3dm03, as you can tell the x1800XL is much better.
Aside from that its up to your descision
