k,

i just installed mandrake 8.0 on my computer. everything runs great. my only problem is i cant figure out how to connect to a windows NT 4.0 box that i have running as a file server. right now, i have the ISDN router running as a DHCP server, so the NT box is purely a file server, and it grabs it's ip address from the router.

so, how do i see my files on the server. i have samba installed, but im not sure if i need that or not since i dont have a domain name setup, atleast i dont think so. think all i have is a workgroup name.

You could use FTP. Just install IIS or an aftermarket FTP server on the NT box and let it rip. Linux has built in FTP capabilites or use one of the GUI clients it comes with.

Samba is the way to go... Free and works WELL...

Normal users cannot even tell they are accessing a linux box on my network...

Intergrates seamlessly....
