Conroe launch date being pushed up?

Like many here I am anxiously awaiting the launch of Conroe and it seem the more i read about it the sooner the launch seems to be. At first Conroe was scheduled for Dec. of 06 or late 4 quarter and today according to the inquirer (http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=28197) (yes i know it is not the most reliable source) it was stated that Conroe will come out during the back to school time or late summer/early fall. I have also read in other sources that Conroe has been pushed up to Q3 though i cant remember them.

Could this be because apple is putting pressure on Intel to release it sooner for back to school pc sales? If this is true then will Conroe first show up in a mac platform only then to be released to retailers later? Will it emerge at the same time? I dont know but it seems the more i read about it the sooner the launch seems to be.

I've seen reports of 2H (2nd half) to 4Q (4th Quarter) of 06. It *could* be anywhere in there, but with it being that far off, I'm no sure even Intel is positive about a release. They may be massing chips right now, or they may be doing further work, but getting that kind of priveledged info is near impossible.

I'd say it's possible, but it's too far off to be certain about anything with a new CPU release.

I was speculating as to what could be influencing the more recent reports that Conroe could be out by Q3 of 06 rather than the original estimate of Q4 06.

Then there is also the time it takes the retailers to get the processors also...
