Change windows Default Icons?

is there a way to change windows default icon set to a different icon set? i hate windows default icons and i dont want to go folder by folder and place by place changing each icon at a time

For xp it is fairly straight forward. you just click on properties, and at the top it should say the name of the dll file. Just erase that, and use ctrl-v to put it in for each folder that you want to mod.

On the left, you can see that I renamed the 'recycle bin', on the right I had changed those two icons when xp was installed (they're on a seperate partition). Since I removed xp they don't display properly, and I have never learned how to change the icons for other win OS's. I am sure that it is a setting in the registry.
