I have seen Win2k sp1 and sp2 for sale. Is there an advantage tp buying one or the other? Is it the same to buy sp1 and just load sp2 ?

For sale? The Service packs are available as a FREE download. You can just install SP2 without installing the first, saves me time when installing 2K.

Yes there is adifference in the SP's you download for free and the ones you can buy. I believe the latter come with extra software you prolly don't really need anyways. You can verify this by booting win2k in safe-mode. It will then say something like 'Safe Mode SP2 Free' in all four corners...

I knew the service packs could be downloaded for free. I was wondering if it mattered at all to get the copy of Win2k with sp1 or sp2 already on it.

I'd say they're pointless unless you aren't willing to download 101mb and don't have a CD-Burner to save it for future use

The sp's are only 101mb , that's less than 5 minutes to download..... I love roadrunner !!!! :-)

downloading 100 megs on a 56k line from ms doesnt take that long. atleast they have really fast connection lines. just let it download over night.

now downloading mandrake 8.1 well i let my friend with a cable modem do that for me.
