View Full Version : AtiTool ALL Artifacts! Ah!
Hey guys, just today I was gaming on my 9800 pro and all the sudden the game would freeze and the pc would lockup. I opened up AtiTool and it's ALL yellow artifacts, then the box blurrs and then the screen locks up then refreshes itself.
Does this mean the card is shot? It's not oc'd at all and I even reflashed the bios. Any thoughts? :eh?:

Try to reinstall drivers , and if that doesn't work you might need to try to re-apply your cooler.
Yea, I tried re-installing the newest drivers and even formated to make sure. Still artifacts everywhere. I think I'll buy an iceberq and see if that fixes it. In the meantime, I purchased an x800GT and it's on it's way. I hate buying expensive things for dying interfaces (AGP). :bang head

Before you go buy something, do as was previously suggested, re-apply the HSF, maybe with some AS5.
Also, try the card in someone else's machine.

Take it from my personal experience, the iceberq 1,2,3,4 is not gonna help a damn thing. They are good for NB cooling.

Maybe try upgrading to the latest Beta of ATITool, I think there were a few versions taht had issues with detecting artifacts where there shouldn't be or weren't any. Don't know exactly.

As for temp monitor's if your chip doesn't have a thermometer I don't think the flashing it will magically make it grow one. You'll probably have to get a probe.
UPDATE: TOok off the hsf and the paste was CRUST. No wonder why it was overheating! So I re-sat it with some AS5 and now it runs good again. I bought an x800gt though thinking my card was shot. Oh well, upgrade on the way to a dead interface. *sigh*
I sold the 9800pro for $80 thought with an Arctic Silencer ver.3 on it. :) So the GT only cost me $100.
