I'm no good at DIY, but I would like to mod my case a bit. Its a midi tower case, 2x3.5ext, 3x3.5int, 4x5.25ext

Two of the 5.25 slots are used (the top and bottom ones) and one of the 3.5ext are used for an FDD. I was thinking of getting a sheet of perspex to fit the space (remove the drive covers) and mount a fan in the middle.
Would this work, or is there a better way to do this?

yeh it would work, but if you want a modded case some places give you the option to send your case off and get it modded.

What would be the fun in not doing it yourself? I'd rather do it myself and be able to say "Look what I did. Isn't it 31337!!" as opposed to "I had it sent away to be done"

yes, i agree. Part of the case mod will be being able to sit back, see to the cuts and scars on my hand and look at my now deformed and ugly case and say "I did that..." and get a great feeling of self satisfaction ;-)

as long as you can get duct tape thecolor of your case, and can put it on nice and straight, you shouldn't have any problem;)
