Can anyone give me some insight on how to overclock one? I bought it almost 4 years ago and would like at least another 100mhz on it somehow, its a gateway 2000 too if that helps

Check your motherboard for a bank of DIP switches. The older PIIs were multiplier-unlocked, so your motherboard probably has the switches to switch the multiplier. This is one easy way.

I've looked for those before but I'm either blind or they don't have them, I couldn't find em anywhere

any other suggestions?

What kind of motherboard do you have?

If it's relatively new (Abit BE-6 for example), the multiplier settings would be in BIOS. While you're in BIOS, there may also be settings for the Front side bus, so it may be possible to increase this, also.

http://www6.tomshardware.com/cpu/98q2/980514/index.html this is an idea of making ur FSB abit faster :) another way is like the previous guys said: bios! well if u have an unlocked multiplier increaze its prize. (it is better because this affects only the cpu) if its locked then, the only solution would be the FSB.thats all, more info?send me an e-mail :copychicken@yahoo.com

hmm...since you motherboard is made by gateway i doubt youll have much chnace ocing your cpu wihtou a purchase...you might wanna try SoftFSB or CPUFSB, but first usse SiSoft Sandra to determine who made your mobo for Gateway....

Some of the early P-II 233 had unlocked multipliers but many 233's were locked. Your motherboard probably has no FSB adjustments and if the softFSB program don't work, which I doubt it will, then try upping the multiplier, if you can. Chances are slim at best that you'll be able to O/C this system.
