x850 xt platinum oem

i bought an x850 off ebay OEM. i understand that means it is just a bare card, but should it not at least come with an adator or something so you can power it thru that crazy 6-pin connector? or are new powersupplies having those connectors on them...

You're second guess is correct. A more recent PSU should have at least one PCI-E connector.

i just made an adaptor cable with the end of an ATX connector for now...i am going to grab a new psu soon tho.
