I just added about 50mhz to my duron for the night. It won't play games stably at that speed, but it will fold. :)

I think it is a school. They have some serious folding power there.

Yep, Stromlo High is a High School down in Canberra. There's some info on their setup in this thread: http://forums.overclockers.com.au/showthread.php?s=&threadid=20903&perpage=15&pagenumber=1 (Doc-of-FC is the Sysadmin there IIRC)

Guys I REALLY hate to do this...but I'm having a fit to play a game or 2 before going to bed....serious hate to though as it'll drag my folding down quite a bit. Wish I were better friends with the local community colleges system admins and try to get them to donate folding power.

Someone mentioned a while back abot putting F@H on computers at internet cafes. Anyone ever consider that?
I do not know of any around here, but others may have access.

Experience? Nah, but it doesn't mean the thought didn't cross my mind. ;)
I remember something about the internet cafe thing as well but can't recall who it was. Wonder if the local library would object to installing fah as a service while surfing the web. ;)

I thought about that EXACT same thing (the library).

..as it can lead to bad times. But for good times, get permission, and set up a farm (or anything) at your place of education or work! We need folding power, take your spare parts and build folding boxes. Or if you have all the parts that you need but one, see if anyone in here will donate that missing part to you, or sell it to you for super-cheap.

This is a really good point. Some of what I said was in jest. Not serious. While it would be good to have a whole school folding for the team it's only good if you have permission to do it first or if you are the one to give permission. Ask David McOwen(sp?) from Georgia who is facing some serious jail time and fines for running a DC client on his schools computers without permission. I hate to see anyone here on the news being escorted up courthouse steps in handcuffs for running the fah client.

I personally would think that if they are friends and you approach them through e-mail or PM, that would be fine.
I do know that it is NOT acceptable to post a recruiting message in that forum or a "Switch from SETI to Folding" message in any forum.
This would be a question best left to be answered my a MOD, but I don't think it is wrong to ask a friend to help you out.

I wouldn't pimp Folding in the SETI forum or make a suggestion in the GD forum that SETI members switch. I don't know about this fourm though.
Here's an old message on the topic from a while ago that was has recently been resurrected, although the circumstances for that original message appear to have been a little different. It's still a good message though.

Trying to get seti members to fold is also bad times. Believe me. Remember, while we would get a gain, seti would take a hit, and both projects are in competative positions right now.

We have gotten about 80 since my post but we MUST

They only have about 50 more folders than us at the moment so we have been closing the gap. We are at or maybe above their production once again, but.......
I read in the OCAU forum where they may get yet another school folding for them. What's this mean?? Well, take a look at what Stromlo High is putting out. If we are going to overtake the OCAU team once again we will need some more folding power. :) Also Ars and the big [H] can move 1500+ users each over to folding in about a months time if they decide to do so.

Well I broke down and bought a Duron 800 will have it folding tonight $140 was all it took me to get it going I will try OC it some this weekend. Its a cheep board so I dont expect much.

800 Durons are great bargain chips for the speed and they oc well with out too much heat. :)
A Duron 700 or 750 works good with cheap boards that can use a 133 fsb, then you can easily bring them to near the chip's limit. Unless your unlucky. :(

Just finished putting together a Duron 750 on an ECS board.
Had to RMA the HSF because of the near fire I had when I assembled this system last week :(
But, should have that this weekend so it'll be folding by next week at the latest.
Also got a P2 350 folding today as well. :D
